"Well, obviously I have just seen Watchmen, and let me start off by saying it was one hell of a movie. But let me be realistic, if you didnt like the novel, or perhaps even read the novel, you arnt gonna get much out of this movie. But really it was quite an epic adaptation and followed through on majority of the graphic novel.

Pros:
-Rorshach is badass.
-Visually the movie was stunning
-Deep plot with alot of twists and turns (if you have'nt read the book that is, but even then the book is basically the script)
-Great action scenes
-Gruesome violence and [frick]ed up dark concepts (which is a plus for me)
-The morals of the story.

Cons:
-Although the movie was meant to be provocative the sex scene (on in particular) was rather awkward and annoying.
-A lot of Dr. Manhattan penis, (i dunno maybe you girls will like it but thats just an assumption)
-If you havnt read the book, or dont pay attention, the movie will confuse the living shit out of you.
-No giant octopus, (even if the explosion was far more realistic)

I give the movie a 9/10, :D "

Ok. Firstly, are you two years old. Sexual revolution is over. If you feel uncomfortable seeing a part of the human anatomy then that is no CON to the film, it is a problem with your mental and emotional capacity.

I agree though that it obviously was an issue. When I was sitting in the theaters watching the film, people were laughing and giggling at Dr. Manhattans penis. I found myself frustrated, not at the fact that they had the balls to show the genitalia, but at the fact that people still find this subject to humor and embarrassment. Get over it. All males have a penis, and when they're naked.. it shows.

The issues I had with the film were things like the absence of the iconic cigarettes, the alien at the end, the black freighter and the news vendor, the dumbed down Dr. Manhattan speech about time and quantum physics, the lack of development with (seemingly) insignificant characters such as the psychiatrist and his wife, the two lesbians, the knot-head gang; and other things like Rorschach's sugar cubes, the police detectives etc etc.

If you're going to change the human-made-monster at the end of the novel, then you might as well change all the costumes, and the rest of the plot entirely. Dr. Manhattan was not the enemy. That is a big change made in the name of artistic license or commercialism. The Watchmen is defined as the watchmen because of its content. If you change it, it is no longer The Watchmen.

What I thought was awesome: The casting, simply put. The casting was amazing... they absolutely nailed every single character. In fact the only character I thought was not a good match was the "Small World, Tall Order" crime boss in prison. Other than that.. everything was perfect; visually.

bottom line for me is if you cant make the movie according to the book.. dont make it. I liked the movie in some regards, but you cant mess with the plot and expect no backlash. I was disappointed.

haha good response.
Just keep in mind that I didn't write this review. I DID write mine but the website lost all my info and I have to do it ALL...OVER...AGAIN...

But yeah Idk why they took out those parts but I didn't mind it. As for the penis, well...I'm glad they didn't hold that back. I find that the showing of Dr. Manhattan's penis is kinda like showing his physical character traits, like how he's so out of tune with humans that he doesn't even care about clothes. In fact, I half the time I didn't even notice his penis when he was on-screen.
