This is going to be good.
HBO has released the first trailer for
Watchmen and as well as confirming that this is indeed a sequel to the original comic book series, there are some massive, jaw-dropping reveals.
For starters, Jean Smart is playing FBI Agent Laurie Blake, a character fans will know as Silk Spectre II (it seems as if she's taken her father's name and never married Nite-Owl). Then, right at the end of this sneak peek, we see that Dr. Manhattan has returned to Earth after relocating to Mars.
The question is, what does he want and is he considered a hero or a villain now?
Regardless of what the answer might be, it's clear that this isn't going to be just a standalone story set in the same world as
Watchmen; it will address what happened in the original tale in a big way and that's definitely something to get excited about.
