Why Has WANDAVISION Spin-Off AGATHA Changed Its Title Yet Again? Here's Why It's Now Called DARKHOLD DIARIES

Marvel Studios has changed the title of WandaVision spin-off Agatha for a second time, prompting fans to wonder whether the series is facing something of a creative crisis. Now, we have an explanation...

Yesterday evening, Marvel Studios announced a slew of release date changes for its upcoming Disney+ offerings, including yet another title change for Agatha: House of Harkness. Wait, no, Agatha: Coven of Chaos. Sorry, our bad, it's Agatha: Darkhold Diaries now.

While the studio has changed titles before - Captain America: New World Order recently became Captain America: Brave New World, for example - alterations to this extent are somewhat unprecedented, leading fans to wonder if creative problems could be an issue.

After all, it certainly feels like the show might be struggling to figure out what it is!

According to Variety, "a source with knowledge of the show says that the changing titles are less a sign of indecision on Marvel's part and more a suggestion that Agatha is up to her old skulduggery."

Not everyone is convinced, with one reliable scooper claiming that the Darkhold - which, we're sure you'll remember, was destroyed by the Scarlet Witch in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness - isn't actually integral to the show's plot.

Very few official plot details have been revealed for Agatha: Darkhold Diaries, though we anticipate the series revolving around Agatha tracking down Billy Maximoff who, like his comic book counterpart, has now been "reincarnated" as Billy Kaplan. Mephisto is also expected to appear, possibly played by Sacha Baron Cohen.

However, one recent rumour claimed much of the series will revolve around the daughters of the witches from Evanora Harkness' coven - now known as the Salem Seven - coming back to claim their revenge.

Whatever happens, we're heading back to Westview because the show's supporting cast will feature a number of familiar faces from WandaVision, including Emma Caulfield Ford (Sarah Proctor), Debra Jo Rupp (Sharon Davis), David Payton (John Collins), David Lengel (Harold Proctor), Asif Ali (Abilash Tandon), Amos Glick (Dennis), Brian Brightman (Sheriff Miller), and Kate Forbes (Evanora Harkness).

Other additions include Aubrey Plaza, Joe Locke, Sasheer Zamata, Ali Ahn, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Okwui Okpokwasili, and Maria Dizzia.

Agatha: House of Darkness Coven of Chaos Darkhold Diaries is currently expected to premiere on Disney+ in the fall of 2024.

Why even bother with the subtitle? If the show was titled just ''Agatha'' it would've been clear enough it was about Agatha too right?

I think we're all mostly on the same page about this show and why it's even a thing. But I will say this, and it is also why the show is a thing, but I can't but help feel that Kathryn Hahn will still be a real bunch of fun. At the same time, I imagine they are going to way overdo what worked about her in WandaVision and run it into the ground. We'll see I suppose.

Why would they even change the Captain America title? New World Order is vastly more interesting than Brave New World. Feels more like a looming threat.
