AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D Spoilers In Early CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER Review

AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D Spoilers In Early CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER Review

A French review has hit which contains some pretty large spoilers both in regards to events which take place in the film and how they connect to Marvel's Agents of SHIELD. Read on at your own risk.

Here is the relevant excerpt from the review (apologies for the rough translation):

Captain America 2 is related to the Agents of Shield series . Not necessarily the most direct way in the first episodes , but the enemy "mythical" appearing in the film ... is that the team Coulson tracks more or less throughout the season 1. " The Clairvoyant " a character in episode 15 remains in the shadows, but thus the existence explodes to light in the film (as well as its past and its links with the Captain , the shield and Bucky ... ) . And it is also discovering his identity, but also what he did to the nose and beard shield for decades that the series takes on another meaning . Why ? Because it complements suddenly all the action plan of Nick Fury, clearly showing that even if the events take an unexpected turn in the film as well for him that the Shield , he managed to get a step ahead by placing along this destruction game a team (at least Coulson ... ) in which he can have confidence when the time comes . But had beyond this point, the presence of this character and especially the organization behind him not content to catch the mythology of the monstrous saga opens opportunities for other characters .

Summary of spoilers:

- The Clairvoyant's identity is revealed in CA:TWS. He has past links with Captain America, SHIELD, and Bucky. He has been working behind the scenes in SHIELD for decades.

- The organization which the Clairvoyant belongs to is also revealed, and this opens up opportunities for Marvel to introduce other well-known characters pertaining to that organization from the comic books.

- Nick Fury predicted that the Clairvoyant would try to bring down SHIELD from the inside, and tasked Coulson with creating an independent unit (the team on Agents of SHIELD) which could go off-grid when the time came.

Here is another spoilery section (not related to Agents of SHIELD) that you guys might be interested in. Again, SPOILER WARNING:

And away to set aside the future , Marvel is the luxury to offer two winks following the Avengers , one discrete and the other solid .

The first is a phrase said by a soldier in Black Widow after the final battle and inglorious future Shield " What will he do now we have brought down our defense system ? " ... The question is good and open to interpretation response , but since the Shield is no longer there he not here an open gold to proof of an AI program as ULTRON door. To overcome possible threats ... the so-called threats that also materialize in the presence yet tenacious Hydra cells Von Strucker and Baron (which appear in the intro scene ... Ultron ) and his two acolytes and secret weapons ... the twins.

One more thing from the review about the (unexpected) level of violence in the movie:

Whether in an ultra dry confrontation with the French mercenary Batroc or the Winter Soldier during a sequence carnage on the highway (where the two clash with anything that comes to hand , the machine gun knife and so on ) the film is approaching almost by some aspects of violence in the Jason Bourne. This is surprising because it is not necessarily expected that Marvel . Just as the ruthless side of the violence of Winter Soldier . This second installment of the adventures of Captain America was certainly the " bodycount " the highest of all the Marvel films precisely .

I'm sure that will please quite a few people on here...

Other reviews have said nothing of the Clairvoyant; that's speculation from the reviewer.

Still thinking MODOK/AIM. MODOK isn't actually psychic, but able to predict things with incredible accuracy simply by doing the math.

"They not going to have modok on the show"

THey won't have MODOK as he appears in the comics, sure. But how many times have we gotten a literal page-to-screen interpretation of any character? It'll be the MCU version of MODOK, who will probably look pretty different from the comics.

I think the Clairvoyant has something to do with The Hand, they seem very keen on finding out how Coulson returned to life. It would be a way to introduce them as a major threat on tv or film. Itd be a surprise if it is though I have to admit!

Also, Zola does have at least one scene in Cap 2....it's entirely possible they're merging him and MODOK, similar to Whiplash in IM2.

"He has past links with Captain America, SHIELD, and Bucky. He has been working behind the scenes in SHIELD for decades."

Zola has all of these links. He was working on Bucky and was captured and was now working 'with' SHIELD.

"The organization which the Clairvoyant belongs to is also revealed, and this opens up opportunities for Marvel to introduce other well-known characters pertaining to that organization from the comic books."

Baron Von Strucker, Hydra....with whom Zola was affiliated with, and clearly still is.

"Nick Fury predicted that the Clairvoyant would try to bring down SHIELD from the inside, and tasked Coulson with creating an independent unit (the team on Agents of SHIELD) which could go off-grid when the time came."

And we know that Hydra is controlling SHIELD...

Since when was Arnim Zola a clairvoyant?
ProfessorX
ProfessorX - 3/20/2014, 3:35 PM
The clairvoyant may not LITERALLY be clairvoyant. My theory is that the clairvoyant has access to SHIELD's database, which is how he knows everything. And he didn't know about Coulson's resurrection because that was conducted on non-SHIELD (HYDRA?) premises.
ProfessorX
ProfessorX - 3/20/2014, 3:36 PM
Zemo, Zola, or von Strucker would be my guesses for the identity of the clairvoyant.

"The clairvoyant may not LITERALLY be clairvoyant."

This.

I don't think he's at all psychic, and if I remember right, hasn't it been shown that he doesn't predict things perfectly? I think he's just incredibly intelligent and able to calculate outcomes.

The Clairvoyant is Arnim Zola who has been put in a machine called M.O.D.O.K.

There is a revelation that HYDRA has infiltrated all big societies, government and SHIELD.
HYDRA, with the help of men in the governement and the Council, put Nick Fury, some of trusted SHIELD agents, and super heroes as terrorists/fugitives

I guess the Council will launch the Ultron program to stop them in Avengers 2.

We know Arnim Zola is in TWS. But this reviewer is obviously just speculating that Zola turns out to the be the Clairvoyant. Not gonna happen.

Marvel producers aren't dumb enough to reveal the character in a completely different medium, especially before the season is over. That would be murder for this show. Because frankly, the Clairvoyant mystery is one of the few reasons many people are still watching.

My money is still on the Leader. Especially after seeing the wheelchair setup, and the surrounding technology/medical equipment.

Well I just saw CA:TWS and the clairvoyant was not revealed directly, there was a character that puts a strong case forward, and if he/she was, the rest of AoS season 1 would be Coulson and his team running around the world searching for something that doesn't exist anymore.
