AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Star Chloe Bennet Denies Rumors That She's Set To Return As Quake In The MCU

mid persistent rumors that she's set to reprise the role of Daisy Johnson, aka Quake, in the MCU, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. star Chloe Bennet has made it clear that she won't be back - but would be open to it.

Rumors have been doing the rounds about Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. star Chloe Bennet potentially reprising the role of Daisy Johnson, aka Quake, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for quite a while now, and although the actress has dropped a few hints that she is indeed set to return in the past, she has made it clear in a new interview that she has "not once been approached" by Marvel Studios.

While speaking to Screen Rant, Bennet was asked about the rumors that Quake might show up in the Disney+ Secret Invasion series,.

“Of course, I would be open to it," she responded. "Listen, there's a lot of stuff around that. I so deeply love SHIELD's fans because it's this tenacity that got the show on air to begin with. I have not once been approached or asked or involved in anything after I wrapped 'SHIELD' And I am not involved in anything that is coming out.”

"I've not been asked, but I would be more than excited to put on the suit again," she added. "And, of course, of course, Daisy is a big part of who I am. So I would love to, but I have not been communicated [with] about it.“

There's always a chance Bennet is simply doing her best to keep her imminent return under wraps, but we'd say she's on the level here. Marvel Studios has introduced some actors/characters from the now defunct Netflix shows to the MCU, but hasn't shown the same willingness to revisit AOS or any other show from the Marvel Television era - even though they were technically set in the MCU.

Quake was revealed to be an Inhuman in the ABC series, but Marvel Studios has yet to introduce this race, and recently ret-conned Ms. Marvel's Inhuman origin to make her a Mutant. If Daisy was ever to return, would the same changes be applied for her debut?

Secret Invasion premieres on Wednesday, June 21 on Disney+.

With Secret Wars anything is possible. And Quake joining Sue Storm and other Universe 838 heroes to avenge their fallen heroes because of what Wanda did would make the most sense for her reintroduction.

ChrisRed - 5/29/2023, 9:22 AM
@SonOfAGif - that's a very interesting idea. Unlikely but very interesting.
Could be cool if they got Emily Blunt to make a small appearance as that universe's Sue.

SonOfAGif - 5/29/2023, 9:27 AM
@ChrisRed - I'd like to see Universe 838 be a total threat to Universe 616. Sue Storm (Emily Blunt), Storm (Hailey Berry), and Superior Iron Man (Tom Cruise) completely mopping the floor with most Universe 616 heroes but struggle against the power houses of Scarlet Witch, Doctor Strange, and Thor.

@SonOfAGif - In that Quake was always Fury's secret weapon ........ :)

@SonOfAGif - It could be that that's what they were setting up in "DS: MoM" with so much focus on 838 and the introduction of incursions. OR maybe that will be an element of Secret Wars where various versions of different characters will end up fighting each other to save their universe and whoever survives that whole thing will be that version of that character moving forward in a (presumably) restored Sacred Timeline.

If that's the case we may all end up looking back on what's been happening since "Endgame" very differently...
SonOfAGif
SonOfAGif - 5/29/2023, 6:12 PM
@StSteven - My ongoing theory is that the surviving heroes believe they are fighting for their universe but in reality it was for The Beyonder to create the perfect universe with the best version of each hero. This allows for new actors to take on the roles of previous retired characters and the Beyonder creating one new universe with the surviving heroes.
StSteven
StSteven - 5/29/2023, 8:19 PM
@SonOfAGif - Totally agree. And if the Beyonder is indeed a Kang variant then this all makes sense, as it would tie into trying to restore the Sacred Timeline like TOWM said in "Loki". Makes total sense. Plus, it gives Marvel Studios a way to finally reconcile all the different properties that they've reacquired by keeping the characters that they want and getting rid of those that they don't.

If this is in fact their master plan (which I suspect it is) then kudos to Marvel of handling it this way. I mean, they're basically taking a company/IP merger and turning it into a storyline. Very meta. Which means that we REALLY need to see The Beyonder played by Feige. This is the way.

SonOfAGif - 5/30/2023, 3:40 PM
@StSteven - In order for this to work and to salvage the continuity confusion that Phase 4 + 5 have created, They need to make The Beyonder a Kang Variant. Make him the biggest Kang of them all. Make him an aged up actor like Keith David and have him eradicate all Jonathan Majors Kang variants. And this new universe born out of the ashes of Secret Wars needs to have likeable replacements going forward.
StSteven
StSteven - 5/30/2023, 4:41 PM
@SonOfAGif - Absolutely agree on all points. And no matter what, NO MATTER WHAT (and I can't emphasize this enough because I can't use a larger font size than caps here)... he's gotta be rocking that Liberache/Elvis outfit from the OG Secret Wars run. Who cares if it looks hokey on film? He's the f**king Beyonder. He's beyond your petty criticism of his appearance and can dress anyway he wants. To paraphrase the famous laureate Dr. Denis Leary, I want The Beyonder to roll in with the attitude of:

"You know what I'm gonna do? I'm gonna get myself a 1967 Cadillac El Dorado convertible. Hot pink! With whale-skin hubcaps and all leather cow interior and big brown baby seal eyes for headlights! Yeah! And I'm gonna drive around in that baby at 115 MPH, getting one mile per gallon, suckin' down Quarter-Pounder cheeseburgers from McDonalds in the old-fashioned non-biodegradable Styrofoam container and when I'm done suckin' down those grease-ball burgers, I'm gonna toss the Styrofoam containers right out the side, and there ain't a goddamn thing anybody can do about it. You know why? Because I'm the Beyonder. That's why!"

That's who we need to get this multiverse in order. Make it happen Marvel!

@StSteven - It would be cool to see The Beyonder through various periods of time where he wears different silver toned outfits making him look so out of place in different worlds/universes.
StSteven
StSteven - 5/30/2023, 7:42 PM
@SonOfAGif - Yeah, well in general it will be interesting to see how he's portrayed. Like was he around hanging out on Earth during the 20s, 40s, 70s, etc.? With the current rumors being that they're going to split "A:SW" into 2 different movies, we may indeed see (hopefully) more of The Beyonder's backstory, rather than him just showing up and being like "I'm The Beyonder bitches! Kneel before me!!!".

On top of that, it would be kinda cool (although a bit contrived) to see that he was the one pulling the strings in certain (but not ALL) MCU events that we've seen so far.

But, yes, throughout the whole thing he needs to be in some sort of silver/white apparel. Preferably with a high color. 😊
SonOfAGif
SonOfAGif - 5/30/2023, 8:19 PM
@StSteven - Or he was just watching key MCU moments live like it was a movie for him. Such as him showing Bruce Banner that while Ultron was lifting Sokovia to it's doom, Beyonder was sitting on a comfortable chair with popcorn watching the show from the woods below. Or when Thanos snapped his fingers. He was walking through the streets of NY watching everyone turn to dust. And it pisses Bruce off but there is nothing Bruce can do. And the Beyonder needed key events to happen such as Ant-Man and the Wasp because Janet was the key to triggering the events of the one Kang he felt was a threat.
StSteven
StSteven - 5/30/2023, 10:03 PM
@SonOfAGif - Dude, if Marvel ends up doing something with The Beyonder like "It was me all the time" that ties together everything that has happened since Day 1, it would be the greatest cinematic feat ever. BUT they could and it would be a way of explaining every plot hole, every universe, everything that didn't gel the first time I the MCU. Basically like The Beyonder saying "Such and such happened because I wanted it to so that we could ultimately do Secret Wars".

I don't know how you would top that afterward, but if done well it would fix A LOT of stuff (i.e. the introduction of the Netflix/Marvel TV characters, etc.). But nothing says that after that you'd have to top that in scale. They could easily build toward a mutant-based saga which could be of that scale (involving cosmic stuff) but could also be more intimate.

It's kinda like in the US where we're dealing with global terrorism vs. domestic terrorism. Which one is scarier? Translate that to the X-Men.
SonOfAGif
SonOfAGif - 5/30/2023, 10:49 PM
@StSteven - If they can get Terrence Howard and Edward Norton to cameo, they could get real Meta and have The Beyonder replace (recast) them as the first test in his overall one true universe. He successfully replaced Earth 616 Bruce Banner (Edward Norton) with Earth ??? Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) keeping their same memories but without causing an Incursion. He replaced (recasted) many beings across universes to test his Anti-Incursion technology and it was a success. And by doing so created the first set of recasts within the MCU that turned out to just be Beyonder replacements for his true Battle World rollout.
StSteven
StSteven - 5/31/2023, 2:44 PM
@SonOfAGif - Yeah, that would be REALLY meta and a pretty big reach but you never know. I think that the biggest reason to not do that (aside from the cost) would be because those two actors were part of the MCU 15 years ago (and relatively small parts), so how many of the current fans would even know who they were (I'm referring to the fans that were still wearing diapers at that time and are now heading off to college)? I'm just saying from a cost-benefit standpoint it may not make sense to have those do cameos for the sake of what would essentially fan service (and OLDER fan service at that).

That being said, I do like the idea. I suppose they could reuse old footage from "IM 1" and "Hulk" to avoid having to have the actual actors, but I don't know if the GA would get confused. It would have to be explained in a way such that it's clear that Ruffalo and Cheadle were variants of Norton and Howard and The Beyonder selected the superior ones, but then that wouldn't make a lot of sense if we're to believe that those variants didn't exist before Sylvie killed TOWR creating the Multiverse UNLESS those variants were from pruned branch timelines in which case The Beyonder plucked them from The Void BUT then if TOWR was truly the last one and The Beyonder is an actual Kang variant then he wouldn't have been around to pluck them from The Void UNLESS TOWR was lying about being TOWR and OWWWW! Now my head hurts thinking about it!

SonOfAGif - 5/31/2023, 4:36 PM
@StSteven - The beauty of streaming is it will get the general audience to rewatch The Incredible Hulk and Iron Man and see that Rhodey and Banner looked completely different and that The Beyonder basically recasted thousands of beings across universes to test his Battleworld technology. Basically he wanted to create a singular Omniverse with no way for an Incursion to happen. And he tested his tech by replacing many people, species, and structures and then wiping the minds of humanity and rewriting their DNA to eliminate the possibility of an Incursion. But the problem with his tech were his variants. And each Kang constantly trying to one up the other. And he needed them to all meet when one of them fell so he could eradicate them all at once and Ant-Man Quantumania was key. And now the multiverse is going to become Battleworld.
StSteven
StSteven - 5/31/2023, 5:07 PM
@SonOfAGif - First, I KNEW you were going to make that point about rewatching the OG MCU movies, and I'm sure many of the younger fans have and have wondered why Rhodey and Banner were recast. And sure this would be a way for Marvel to explain all that. My point is though that I don't know that they'd want to go through all that to explain recasts.

BUT, that being said, if they can tie it into an explanation like what you've laid out here, they might. Either way I think that they're going to try to be careful to not overload "A:SW", which despite rumors is still currently one movie and hasn't officially been split into two. Might or might not happen at this point. If they do split it, that might make room for ideas like you're laying out (which I honestly think are GREAT ideas), but it all depends on what other story elements they want to include and making sure that they do them justice in the time that they have to work with for the movie.

For example, if the new "Dune" movies had been reduced down to just one, I'm sure that there's a lot of plot points that would have had to go by the wayside. Imagine if "A: IW" and "A: EG" had to have been one movie instead of two? Jeesh! So hopefully "A: SW" is given the room to breathe that it needs to include the stuff that we're discussing. But I have a feeling that now that Chapek is out and Kevin's allowed to do his thang again without interference or pressure we'll get something that at least rivals "A: IW" and "A: EG". Fingers crossed 😊.

It's much more important for them to get the castings of the Fantastic Four and the X men right. Quake is a minor detail right now.
