AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. To Explore Mockingbird's "Power Of Sexuality"

A few more minor details about Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s take on Mockingbird have found their way online, and while we know Bobbi Morse will start out as head of Hydra Security, it sounds as if the ABC and Marvel series will really delve into the spy aspects of her character too...

We were introduced to Mockingbird for the first time a little earlier this week, but the reveal that she will be working for Hydra was quite a surprise! Is she undercover for S.H.I.E.L.D. (that seems doubtful as they had no idea of the organisation's existance until the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier) or can we expect Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. to give her a redemption story of sorts as she sees the errors of her ways and joins Coulson's unit? We'll have to wait and see, but the series will apparently explore "the power of sexuality" when Bobbi Morse is first introduced according to Entertainment Weekly! "That is a quality and something that is very inherent in a lot of spy dealings," executive producer Maurissa Tancharoen tells the site. "It’s not really dealt with firsthand, and that might be something that we dive into with Mockingbird." Well, that sounds pretty intriguing! What are your thoughts on these latest details about the character? Is Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. the right place for her debut? Sound off with your thoughts in the usual place.

Smh, like a woman's sex appeal isn't already the main reason why 85% of them are in action flicks and shows. Hopefully characters like Ms.Marvel, Wonder Woman and other female comic book characters will steer away from this mantle. I didn't like Drax calling Gamora a "whore" in Guardians either.

@TheRathionalNerd And the same can be said for most men in the media. I think where we mess up is by putting the focus solely on how it is demeaning to women, because all the while I'm thinking that the goal at hand is for equality. Well, I think the answer is not trying to avoid making women seem less sexual, but, to make their characters less 2 dimensional and more significant to story overall. I'm not saying we should be embracing soft porn tactics here either but denying that women as well as men are sexual creatures or would never use sex as a weapon when it literally happens in the real world everyday is cheapening the potential of what could be while insulting all our intelligences. Is it more likely that every heroine would be a strong feminist type in this fictional world as opposed to a mix bag? Then, once you accept the mix bag, why should it always end in the eye roll inducing anti-discrimination speech? It's like when certain Black ppl complain about being portrayed as gangsters in the media. I mean, how can we be mad when there is some truth to it? Not to say every Black actor should be relegated to that type of role but at the same time I'm not going to act like it's a complete myth. The comics don't exactly tiptoe around the power of female sexuality, so, why should the films?

I hate it when female sexuality is handled like something that is a character flaw for villainous types or something that women should be ashamed of. It's a manipulative, outdated ideal whose time has come and gone. All the while, nobody blinks an eye when men are portrayed as skirt chasing pigs. Sounds a little off to me.

@TheAmbassador

Start at the beginning. The Centipede program debuts in the pilot, along with Mike Peterson's arc. They are very important.

If you must skip episodes, start at either Ep. 5(The Girl in the Flower Dress) which is the debut of Raina's character, or Ep. 6(FZZT) which is generally regarded as a turning point for the show.
