MARVEL'S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Suffers Fifth Ratings Drop In A Row

Rating continue to drop for Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as the ABC series hit an all-time low this week. While the network has already committed to a full season order, could these declining figured be a sign that we won't see Agent Coulson and his team return for a second year?

It's perfectly normal for a new show's ratings to drop over the course of the first few episodes, but Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. still hasn't levelled off, hitting an all-time low for its fifth instalment yesterday. After taking a one week break, it returned to 7.2 million (2.5), dipping two tenths in the demo, or as TV Line puts it, "its fifth consecutive decline." We're only six episodes in, so it's perfectly possible that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will eventually find its footing and maintain the sort of numbers which will mean it returns for a second season. If it continues to decline like this though, Marvel's first live-action TV venture could also be its first major failure...

It's still doing good enough to get another season.
It'll stop dropping eventually.

Still good numbers. Last episode was very very good.

Nobody reports Arrow's numbers? Arrow has extremely low rating since episode 2 of season 2: http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2013/10/31/wednesday-final-ratings-arrow-super-fun-night-csi-adjusted-down-final-world-series-numbers/212682/

i watched like 5 episodes ... not bad at all.
Cheesy but fun. Hope the Marvel movies won't go that road.
We need something more serious.

7.2 still isn't that bad FYI. It's a ratings drop, yes, but it's still doing better compared to several other fall shows.

I really wanted to like this show, but there's only been 1 episode that's been watchable so far. It's just a bad show, I'm not surprised by the drop.

I hope not. People should give it more a chance, it's still pretty good.

Josh your a pretty fair guy but it's obvious you like arrow, but in a earlier article you called arrow a hit when in fact arrow's ratings is 2.2million. That my be a hit by cw standards but that wouldn't cut it on a major network. Then you have this doom and gloom article q bout a show that has twice the ratings of arrow. . Let's keep everything in perspective. I love both shows btw. Can't wait to see flash

Some of you folks are just on a deathwatch for this show and it is totally unnecessary. Plenty of shows start slow and pick up in their ability to tell compelling stories as they find their stride. I agree that it isn't the best show on TV right now, but I find it really enjoyable. Give it time to breathe and quit hoping for an untimely death.

You can't compare to Arrow to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. because if it was on a major network like this, there's a chance it would be getting similar numbers. For a CW series, it's a massive hit. S.H.I.E.L.D. isn't doing bad, but the fact that the ratings have dropped for a fifth consecutive week isn't good, especially if it happens again for episode seven, eight, nine, etc.

The last episode of Arrow has the worst rating ever for both seasons but nobody has talked about it. Why?

marvel needs to get knocked down a peg. after the mandarin twist in a movie that still made over a bil, they need to get checked.

im a marvelite, too. if that counts for anything.

@NoMore
The low ratings lately have been because of the World Series, it'll pick back up.

We want cameos or introduce recognizable characters like Punisher, Daredevil, Taskmaster, Luke Cage and Iron Fist etc. Without superheroes or villains this show will flop. Agent Coulson isn't strong enough to carry this show alone. Unless he turns into Vision.

Which it might or might not. We will see.

Hmmm. I feel like there's an agenda here. You never see any articles on here about the ratings for any other show besides AOS. Really? You could at least post articles about the ratings to Arrow but no. You prefer to blatantly hate on this show.

the show sucks... flat out... but since the entire season has been ordered, they do have the time to make the appropriate adjustments to make it great

Needs a new writing staff to bring it more in line with the tone of the first Iron Man, and you know, develop at least one or two of the characters. Also couldn't hurt to bring in more of the well known S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, and ditch FitzSimmons in the lab.

comparisons to Arrow should really stop- 2 different shows on 2 different networks...and CW shows don't even sniff decent ratings no matter what they air.

While I don't think the show has lived up to its potential, it's been steadily getting better with last nights episode surprising me. Only gripes are more powers and more humor. If you are gonna be lighthearted actually get someone who knows comedy or grab Joss for some witty banter.
