There's a tremendous amount of excitement for Disney+'s Daredevil: Born Again, and while we know Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio will take centre stage as Matt Murdock and The Kingpin, plans for the supporting cast are less clear.
The series is expected to be a fresh start for the Man Without Fear in the MCU, shifting the focus to street-level crimes in a shared world that's primarily been about world-ending threats. Daredevil ran for three seasons on Netflix, and while that show will influence what we see in the eighteen-episode follow-up, we're expecting it to be more of a reboot than a sequel.
What does that mean for characters like Foggy Nelson and Karen Page?
They were played by Elden Henson and Deborah Ann Woll, with both proving pivotal to Matt's journey. Daredevil: Born Again could likely manage without the latter as 'ol Hornhead has had many love interests over the years, but no Foggy? That would be a real shame.
Talking at German Comic Con Winter Edition, Charlie Cox weighed in on Matt's relationships with Karen and Foggy, saying: "With Matt Murdock, I don't think it gets more deep than Karen Page, and shout out to the wonderful Deborah Ann Woll, who's just amazing."
"I was saying this to [Elden Henson] yesterday...I don't know what's going to happen with the other characters in the new show, but I know for a fact that Elden and Deborah were the heartbeat of what we did before and the show is a success because of them."
Seeing as Cox views his old co-stars with such reverence, it's hard to imagine Marvel Studios not giving at least some thought to bringing them back. There have been rumblings about Henson signing up to return, so we definitely expect to see more Foggy. In Woll's case, we'd imagine she'll at least return for a cameo as Karen. Time will tell, though.
Daredevil: Born Again is set to premiere on Disney+ sometime in 2024.
