Could David Tennant's 'Kilgrave' Return For JESSICA JONES Season 2?

Former Doctor Who David Tennant's complex villain, Kilgrave, was easily one of the highlights of the first season of Marvel and Netflix's Jessica Jones, but could we see him return for the recently confirmed season 2? Massive Season 1 SPOILERS ahead...

Again, if you still haven't seen the finale of Jessica Jones, major SPOILERS beyond this point.

So in the closing moments of the last episode, Jessica manages to trick Kilgrave into believing he has control over her again, lures him in, and snaps his neck. It's a pretty unambiguous end for the villain, who is clearly shown laying on the ground, dead as a dodo. But this being Marvel and Kilgrave being a super-powered character who has cheated death once before... you just never know!

During the TCA press tour, showrunner Melissa Rosenberg was asked if there was any chance Tennant would reprise the role for season 2, and without confirming or denying, she did seem to suggest there was at least a possibility. "I mean, if you have David Tennant you want him around forever," she admitted. "He's such an extraordinary actor and one of the loveliest people you'd ever want to work with. But the show is called Jessica Jones, and it's about Jessica's arc."

Of course, Jessica suffers from PTSD and has had to deal with hallucinations involving Kilgrave all thorough season 1, which may not cease just because he's dead - so in theory Tennant could return for a cameo without the character being resurrected.

What do you guys think? Would you like to see Kilgrave brought back to exact his revenge, or do you think it's time for a new bad guy to get the spotlight? Jessica Jones will most likely return for its sophomore season sometime next year.

If Season 2 is anything like the first one, they'll need him.

Id rather his work and damage haunt Jessica like a spirit. Bringing him back from the dead TWICE is stretching it a bit. You could do other kids that were experimented on, victims of Kilgrave blaming Jessica, or even his children (which they kind of hinted at).

not that they should, but the injection his father gave him gives them the latitude to say that it repaired his neck after it was snapped...

Its always a possibility to keep him alive in her head.
He will always be saying F-ed up stuff in her psychotic flash backs.

Well who else are they going to get for the main villain?

I just want them to go further into her powers and try to be a little less realistic in regards to the powers of others. As soon as the guy was about to become Purple Man they offed him completely.

Stem cells injected into the neck, neck snapped, neck heals. Works for me.

I don't want him back as a main villain, but if it turns out that the IGH swept in, took the body to study it, and then locked him in an airtight room, and we get to see a cameo later, maybe even a small arc or an arc in a different series, then sure. I'm all for that.

IF he does turn back up, it should be after Jessica has essentially recovered from her experience in the first series and before. She needs to have her life in order again, so that Kilgrave (now purple from the experiments, maybe?) can come in and threaten to wreck it.

I don't want him to be resurrected. He was great in season 1, but his story ended perfectly. And he is a psycho rapist. He deserves what he got, as compelling as he was. Unlike the one-off movie vilains, JJ had time to develop him over a 13 eps season. Move on, and maybe use him in flashbacks or nightmares/hallucinations.

well he has come back in the comics plus there was that character jessica was defending who was gonna have his kid until she killed herself. worst mistakes of the series was him not being purple after getting the upgrade and him dying

Purple Man is one of my favorite Daredevil villains but he shouldn't return. Period.

The entire Arc of Season 1 was Jones capturing & ending Kilgrave's reign. Bringing him back undoes this.

It's both similar and different from The Flash season 1. Barry wanted to capture his mom's killer in the Reverse-Flash but due to that show showcasing time travel & different worlds; if the Reverse-Flash were to return, it wouldn't be that bad.

Bringing him back will be nothing but fan service and unless he will fight Daredevil; they shouldn't bring him back.

Even though I love his "ending", killing him off, in my opinion, is just a bit of a mistake, because I'm not sure if a season if enough to quench my thirst for this character. There's so much more they can do with him. But that's really the only reason why, he served his purpose in the show, and honestly a season 2 without him would really allow Jessica to be her own person, and allow her to reach great lengths. I think they should just cool it with the Killgrave stuff, even if it's flashbacks I'd prefer it make a grand reappearance in season 3.

I wouldn't want him revived or anything but maybe make him more of a mental apparition ala Willem Dafoe in Raimi's Spider-Man sequels.

Realistically, just because the character is dead doesn't mean Kilgrave's left Jessica's psyche. She STILL suffers from the PTSD created through her association with him. It makes a lot of sense that he would occupy her thoughts during periods of stress. Abandoning that and not be a part of her ongoing story would be a disservice to the character. So I have no problem with Kilgrave returning in the sense of Jessica inwardly battling her demons. That's one reason why her character is so compelling psychologically.

LOVED Jessica Jones and I understand why Kilgrave had to die, but he absolutely was one of the best parts of the show. Killing him off will leave a hell of a void.

I think he's still alive anyways!!! At the end he made JJ think she still had control and made her and everyone else around think she had killed him. But in reality he's just leaning against the wall laughing at everyone. Hopefully he's actually purple in S2 and much more powerful

But in seriousness I Loved Killgrave but bringing him back would ruin the arc from season 1, but I'm fine with him still being in Jessicas head.

If he does show up, it better just be a one-off cameo or flash back.

Although I do like the idea of Jessica being haunted by Kilgrave, like Batman was by Joker in Arkham Knight. But just for one episode maybe.

Keep him dead. Don't repeat season 1.

In flashbacks? Sure. Otherwise, you killed him. It's done. Honestly, they just shouldn't have killed Kilgrave. Should've made JJ do something to him from afar (shoot him?) and then let it happen. Also, wish he would've actually been purple the last time we see him.

They need to be careful with that kind of stuff. A little goes a long way. A dream or a quick flash like we got in the first episode could work, but she shouldn't be going full Harvey with him...

...Although, now that I think about it, what if whatever made Jessica immune to him was that her brain had somehow internalized Kilgrave creating a sort of mental copy of him. And that mental copy was what protected from from Kilgrave's control because it wanted her all to itself.

Okay, I'm actually getting into this idea. But not for season 2. Just have a few creepy voices and suggestions from time to time, but then bring him back full force in a later season as a mental projection that can maybe still control her and I'm very intrigued.
