With cameras rolling on Loki season 2 in London, England, the first photos from the show's set have started appearing online (you can take a first look at Loki and Mobius by clicking here). Now, a closer look at the 1970s set reveals some deep-cut Easter Eggs comic book fans are sure to appreciate.
With the God of Mischief and his buddy from the TVA seemingly taking a trip to the theatre (or perhaps the theater based on these shots), posters hyping up a variety of movies have been spotted.
Among them is Zaniac, a character first introduced in the pages of 1982's Thor #319. He was an alien entity who could possess various hosts in order to unleash a unique brand of chaos and terror, with the prevailing belief being he may, in fact, be Jack the Ripper in the Marvel Universe.
We also have The Phone Ranger, a bizarre creation who debuted in 1985's Marvel Age Annual #1. He was actually part of #TeamCap in Civil War, but that's the last time we remember seeing him. Believe it or not, after discovering an alien phone, he became a superhero who fought crime and could tap into communication technology.
Needless to say, we don't expect physical appearances from either character if they're just on movie posters, but this is still a fun nod to the source material.
Funnily enough, Marvel Studios has also taken this opportunity to pay a nod to Eternals with yet another poster featuring Kingo's lengthy history as a Bollywood star. Seeing as this is the 70s, we're assuming he was posing as his father at this point (we also can't help but wonder whether this is confirmation these scenes take place in the MCU).
Loki season 2 is expected to arrive on Disney+ sometime in 2023.
