We'll be placing this one in the TVA's "theory" file for now, but there is quite a bit of speculation online that the second season of Loki is already in the can, along with some reasonably compelling evidence to back it up.
Mild spoilers follow.
Wednesday's finale, "For All Time. Always.", concluded with the reveal that the Disney+ series will indeed return for a sophomore run, but some believe we may not be waiting too long to find out how the God of Mischief's story is going to continue.
For starters, there were several shots from trailers with "King Loki" that never featured in the first 6 episodes. While this wouldn't be unusual on its own (we see it all the time, after all), a resurfaced interview with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. star Clarke Gregg adds some fuel to the fire.
In the interview, Gregg reveals that Tom Hiddleston was: "Working on 10 or 12 episodes the way Tom Hiddleston told me he was doing [on 'Loki'] with that kind of budget and that Marvel Cinematic production team." He could simply have picked up his Avengers costar wrong, of course, but there's more.
Hiddleston recently revealed to Jimmy Kimmel that he was still filming Loki during his 40th birthday, but the show "officially" wrapped late last year, and the actor's birthday lands on February 9, 2021.
Is it possible that up to 12 episodes of Loki were filmed before Marvel made the decision to split them in half and debut them as separate seasons? Let us know what you make of this theory in the usual place.
