Terry Crews Reiterates Desire To Play LUKE CAGE In Upcoming Marvel And Netflix Series

We've heard from Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Expendables 3 star Terry Crews about his interest in playing Luke Cage a number of times in the past, but now that Marvel and Netflix have given the character his own series, the actor makes it clear that he still wants the role...

While it appears as if Luke Cage is no longer heading to the big screen, the fan-favourite character will soon be joining Daredevil on Netflix in his own 12-episode series on the online streaming service. Talking to IGN Movies, The Expendables 3 star reiterated his desire to still play the former Power Man if the opportunity arises. "I would love to do Luke Cage. I heard they finally green-lit that whole thing and I would love to do something like that." As for whether or not he had any other superhero roles in kind, he added: "I have so many. I have to go back to Luke Cage just because he was our Superman. There were no African-American superheroes out there. He was the first. He was the man. He was the one. The only example we could look at. I remember then seeing Falcon and a couple of others. Even in the D.C. Universe there was Cyborg. But Luke Cage was the original one where you said ‘This is me. This is my guy. This is the character.’ So he’s the equivalent to Superman for me. But I have plenty. Second to Luke Cage would probably be The Hulk. The Hulk was amazing." Crews is of course busy with Brooklyn Nine-Nine, but if he were to find the time, there's no denying that he would be a good choice.

Just give it to the dude, Marvel. I've had it with your white boy comedy casting, first Chris Pratt then Paul Rudd. Who's next, Steve Carrell? SMH

Yeah I don't see why they just don't make it happen.
He's literally perfect for Cage.
The fans want it, Terry wants it. Do it Marvel!

And if Marvel didn't waste Amanda Righetti for a crappy cameo at the end of Cap, then we coulda had her as Jessica Jones! :'(

Hey Nomi - Who is Nomis1800? Is that you or someone [frick]ing with you or just a coincidence? I've always wondered that.

At least with him they wouldn't have to worry about him cutting or gaining weight. You can start shooting right after casting him.

I wanted Henry Simmons as Cage, but they already cast Simmons as some random character on AoS.

@Alien- You really have a problem with Chris Pratt? You may be the first person that I've heard say this. And Paul Rudd...I'm sure this isn't your first choice (that's why you ranting) but give the man a break. You sound like a CBM'er from the 80's dissing on Michael Keaton.

I'm okay with Terry Crews in this role. We can't attach Idris Elba to everything and I it's hard for me to envision Michael Jai White in this role. The only thing that I chuckle at with Terry Crews is how he lost on Stars Earn Stripes.

It's not just his age, I don't think much of him as an actor. Comedy..sure, he;s fine..but in action roles he just shouts and scowls. He's laughable in the Expendables..though they all are to be fair.

He would make for a good Luke Cage… I'm all for Crews, just hope they don't cast some goofball as Iron Fist.
