Today's episode of Moon Knight took us into the "Asylum," though we quickly learned that it's just a purgatory of sorts. Marc and Steven are stuck there until they can be judged and either taken to The Field of Reeds (the Egyptian version of Heaven) or thrown from Tawaret's ship into the Duat where they will remain frozen in the sands for eternity and their souls destroyed.
Judgement comes from a set of scales, and Marc and Steven are tasked with balancing them by revisiting their past. Along the way, we learn that as a child, Marc was responsible for the accidental death of his brother when they were recreating the Tomb Buster movie we caught a glimpse of last week. After that, his mother became physically and emotionally abusive, and it was then that Marc created Steven to hide behind.
Marc later left home to become a soldier, but was discharged for going AWOL. It appears he continued to share his body with Steven over the years, but it wasn't until their mother died that grief overcame Marc and his life and Steven's started to merge. Marc tried to give Steven a happy reality where their mom was still alive, but the Brit is understandably unhappy to learn he's not real.
We also see the moment mortally wounded Marc agreed to become Khonshu's avatar, though it's clear the Moon God took advantage of the mentally unstable mercenary. It's suggested that Moon Knight's first act was to seek vengeance on Bushman, though we never get to see it.
Near the end of the episode, Marc and Steven's scales still haven't balanced and they start to be pulled into the Duat. Steven, however, sacrifices himself for Marc and ends up frozen in the sands. With that, the hero arrives in The Field of Reeds, and he now just has to convince Osiris to allow him to return to the land of the living.
So, there was no sign of Jake Lockley, though there have been multiple hints about a third personality who has enacted some lethal justice and wanted out of that sarcophagus. If Khonshu sees Steven as a "worm" and Marc as his avatar, could he secretly be using Jake as his Fist of Vengeance? He immediately recognises that Marc's mind is fractured when they first meet, but either way, something tells us that following Steven's demise, Jake's emergence is being saved for the finale or a future story.
