SECRET INVASION's Latest Episode Features A Noteworthy MCU Cameo With Ties To [SPOILER]

Today's episode of Secret Invasion finally features a surprise cameo, and while it's not one of Earth's Mightiest Heroes, they do have significant ties to 2021's Black Widow movie. Read on for details...

In Black Widow, we were introduced to one of Natasha Romanoff's closest allies, Rick Mason. Better known as "The Agent" in the comic books, he was played by
O-T Fagbenle and depicted as a man who could get his hands on, well, pretty much anything.

While Secret Invasion is telling the story of a Skrull invasion of Earth, we've yet to see any of the planet's mightiest heroes make an appearance (outside of the imposter Rhodey, of course). While he's no Avenger, today's episode - titled "Harvest" - sees Nick Fury receive a helping hand from Mason!

After "Rhodey" sends the footage of Gravik posing as the former S.H.I.E.L.D. Director gunning down Maria Hill to the press, Nick is forced to go on the run. However, he boards a private jet we learn is piloted by the Black Widow supporting character.

When we last saw him, he had escaped General "Thunderbolt" Ross and delivered a Quinjet to Natasha. That was ultimately used by the Secret Avengers, and this marks the first time we've seen the former soldier and international smuggler since 2021.

He's clearly also an old ally of Fury's and the two exchange a few barbs - specifically about Mason not being able to get him a Helicarrier due to them being decommissioned - and that's the last we see of him.

We don't expect Mason to return in next week's finale, but this is the sort of world-building fans of the MCU appreciate.

When Fury later meets with Sonya Falsworth, he uses the newly named Widow's Veil to hide his face and mentions there's a new version that can disguise someone's entire body. How much do you want to bet that comes into play when Fury goes off to confront the Super-Skrull Gravik next week?

Were you excited to see Mason return in Secret Invasion

What an absolute non-character to cameo. If memory serves he was completely bland and one of the worst parts of a pretty bad movie.

@CLTMAN29 - he was only in the movie for 3 seconds

I had to Google this character and even after that I still don't remember him. That's not a noteworthy character, is it?

I feel bad for Josh, trying to create hype for a series that has none.

I've not been interested in this show since the trailers.

I really had high hopes for this show. It was one of the few things I was actually excited for.

I'm quickly learning that Daredevil, Fantastic Four, and X-Men are all I have left to look forward too now. And I'm close to losing hope for those as well.

Disney/Marvel is just really messing up bad now. This show could have been amazing. Instead, I'm going to end up walking away from it feeling even worse than I did about Falcon and Winter Soldier.

A tonne of very odd commentary on here. This is a solid TV series with a great cast, decent dialogue and the budget to deliver it visually. Honestly no idea what you want, not sure you do either.
PS Black Widow was pure entertainment, head and shoulders above drivel like Shang-Chi, Eternals, Strange 2, Antman 3 and anything DC have put out since Nolan.

@ZomZom - Are you really that confused? This is supposed to be based on a very popular existing comic story. It doesn't even resemble it and I don't think anyone wants the low budget version of that story.

Why is it whenever Marvel delivers a product that is less than what people imagined or just doesn't meet people’s expectations and they dare critique it then there is something "wrong" with them and we are whining?

Now let this be any other studio or property that believers a bad product and the people on this site can understand why people are dragging it?

@blackiron777 - marvel fans have their entire egos and personalities wrapped up in people liking this shit

@blackiron777 - you’re commenting about one person saying this per Thread against 98% of the other comments being overly negative… why?

Go through each secret invasions thread, captain marvel thread(we’ve seen almost nothing from it), or anything that mentions MCU then come back and revisit your comment.

The fact that you felt the need to address the minority is a no bueno

The only thing even remotely interesting about this character is that we were led to believe he might’ve been Tony Masters. And he wasnt even that. Marvel is boring af now, and we have Agatha and Echo to look forward to now yay

I instantly recognized him but his name did escape me. But it was a nice tie-in.
