In Black Widow, we were introduced to one of Natasha Romanoff's closest allies, Rick Mason. Better known as "The Agent" in the comic books, he was played by
O-T Fagbenle and depicted as a man who could get his hands on, well, pretty much anything.
While Secret Invasion is telling the story of a Skrull invasion of Earth, we've yet to see any of the planet's mightiest heroes make an appearance (outside of the imposter Rhodey, of course). While he's no Avenger, today's episode - titled "Harvest" - sees Nick Fury receive a helping hand from Mason!
After "Rhodey" sends the footage of Gravik posing as the former S.H.I.E.L.D. Director gunning down Maria Hill to the press, Nick is forced to go on the run. However, he boards a private jet we learn is piloted by the Black Widow supporting character.
When we last saw him, he had escaped General "Thunderbolt" Ross and delivered a Quinjet to Natasha. That was ultimately used by the Secret Avengers, and this marks the first time we've seen the former soldier and international smuggler since 2021.
He's clearly also an old ally of Fury's and the two exchange a few barbs - specifically about Mason not being able to get him a Helicarrier due to them being decommissioned - and that's the last we see of him.
We don't expect Mason to return in next week's finale, but this is the sort of world-building fans of the MCU appreciate.
When Fury later meets with Sonya Falsworth, he uses the newly named Widow's Veil to hide his face and mentions there's a new version that can disguise someone's entire body. How much do you want to bet that comes into play when Fury goes off to confront the Super-Skrull Gravik next week?
Were you excited to see Mason return in Secret Invasion?
