THE MANDALORIAN: There Could Be As Many As Three Spinoffs In The Works At Disney+

There have been rumblings about The Mandalorian being used to launch a series of spinoffs on Disney+ for a while, but it's now said there could be as many as three of them on the way. Check it out...

The Mandalorian introduced a lot of great characters during the show's first season on Disney+, though there weren't too many beyond Cara Dune fans would probably follow into a spinoff series. However, with season two reportedly set to include the likes of Ahsoka Tanoa and Boba Fett, there's clearly a lot of potential for new shows to launch out of this one.

That's something Kessel Run Transmissions' Corey Van Dyke (who has proved to be a reliable source of news in recent months) reiterates in a recent Tweet, stating that there are now THREE spinoff shows in various stages of development for the streaming service.

Shows revolving around Ahsoka Tanoa and Boba Fett are surely a given, though we don't know how many other new and returning characters will factor into The Mandalorian when it returns. However, with Timothy Olyphant playing Cobb Vanth, a self-appointed sheriff of the Tatooine-based settlement Freetown who dons Fett's armour in the series, that too could lead to a spinoff.

Ultimately, we'll just have to wait and see, but with The Mandalorian proving to be a huge hit for Disney+, it makes perfect sense for the streaming service to try and capitalise on that in some way.

I'd want an Ahsoka Tanoa spinoff the most, maybe an Ezra Bridger one too but only if he's played by Dev Patel.

Disney are clearly rattled by the dismal critical reception of their sequel trilogy. They're clinging to the Mandalorian's success and throwing ideas at a wall to see what sticks.

What would be better, is Disney taking the time to flesh out new ideas and brave new directions, instead of centering whole seasons on currently popular ideas.

One good thing to take away from this, is the boardroom execs have woken up to the popularity of the animated canon. Ahsoka is a solid character and it would be amazing to see Maul, Savage Opress and the Dathomir plot feature heavily in live-action.

This feels so excessive. But, HBO commissioned 5 prequels to Game of Thrones and eventually only one of them wound up coming to fruition, so maybe Disney is putting the cart before the horse and only one of these happens.

@tmp3 - too bad we can’t see the failed pilot. I was really x cited to see what Naomi watts was going to do in the Prequel.

I don't even know how you can create three spin-off shows from the Mandalorian alone. Atleast the Clone Wars has dozens of characters that can carry a show on their own (although Bad Batch isn't my first choice, they can and will too).

I'm guessing it's not so much three spin-off shows, but more just three new shows that features some connection to The Mandalorian. Just like Rogue One isn't a spin-off from the Clone Wars because it features Saw, this probably won't be either.

@MalesMarcel - they mean use The Mandalorian to introduce Animated characters into live action and then spin them off into their own shows.

I don’t have an issue with this, as I see “spin-off” as meaning “set in the same time period and able to cross paths with the Mandalorian”, and frankly that’s what I want. Stay in this post RotJ time period and flesh it out... it’s literally the only time period that I’ve been interested in... I don’t care about anything pre “A New Hope” nor post “the Force Awakens”.

We already had Star Wars fatigue with the movies, serioulsy dont ruin the shows as well, maybe 2 live action shows and 2 animated shows would be enough
