THE MANDALORIAN: Tomorrow's Episode Title Strongly Hints At A Long-Awaited Origin Story - Possible SPOILERS

Carl Weathers once again steps behind the camera to direct tomorrow's episode of The Mandalorian and, after revealing its title on social media, fans are convinced we'll see a long-awaited origin story.

As The Mandalorian's Greef Karga, Carl Weathers has quickly become a firm fan-favourite among Star Wars fans. The character may have initially served as something of an antagonist, but after a fateful encounter with Grogu that saw the Force-sensitive child save his life, he had a change of heart and is now doing what he can to make Nevarro a better place.

The actor previously stepped behind the camera to direct "Chapter 12: The Siege," and will return to his directing duties for tomorrow's "Chapter 20."

While episode titles are typically kept under wraps until dropping on Disney+, Weathers has gone ahead and revealed his early! As you can see below (via SFFGazette.com), it seems we can expect it to be called "The Foundling."

Over the weekend, we learned that this instalment of The Mandalorian will be one of the shortest to date, and speculated that it could be because we're finally getting Grogu's origin story. Dave Filoni co-wrote the episode and the trailers teased a return to that fateful night when Order 66 was enacted and The Child somehow escaped.

That's long overdue and is likely to inform Moff Gideon's eventual return and whatever it was he was hoping to achieve with the Empire's cloning efforts.

In other news, Lucasfilm has also released character posters for Elia Kane (Amnesty Officer G68) and Dr. Penn Pershing (Amnesty Scientist L52).

They were front and centre in last week's episode of The Mandalorian, with Elia eventually turning on Pershing after seemingly revealing that she's infiltrating the New Republic from the inside. That has to be at Gideon's behest, though why he'd want to take the cloner off the table remains to be seen.

Check out Elia and Pershing's posters in the Tweet below.

Episode 3 was hot garbage

@Thing94 - why? I loved the episode, was genuinely gutted at the ending. Hope we see Pershing again and get him back to normal

@Blergh - I liked the Mandalorian and Bo-Katan stuff but the other doctor crap was awful

@Thing94 - I'm not sure what you thought was awful about it, but I can agree that it was a detour that the general audience wasn't asking for. I was very interested to see how Empire folks were treated after RotJ, but it really felt like this story belonged somewhere else.
It's like opening a box of "Frosted Flakes" and getting "Cheez-Its." I like both, and whoever loaded the box is correct that they are both food, but I didn't fill a bowl with milk to drop in Cheez-Its. I like Mando and I like Star Wars Intergalactic Politics, but I'm not certain I need them together.
Maybe I'm just hungry....

@Blergh - Some guys just want shoot-‘em-up, bang-bang stuff. I didn’t mind the episode. I am having my own isssues with this season and that episode is at the bottom of my list of issues.

There is always the possibility that this Pershing/Kane story is integral to the Mandalore/Children of the Watch storyline, but there were few (if any) seeds planted to allow an audience to connect those threads. I really do hope this wasn't like Book of Boba Fett's Mando episodes.

@TheRose - Did you just imply that you pour the milk before the cereal? What kind of hedonistic flim flam is that?

Yes of course it is! 😁

You're absolutely correct that it's definitely an integral setup to some payoff in the future. I'd bet that once it's revealed WHAT they are setting up fans will likely see the connection and be engaged in the revealing episode.

There's no way they suddenly decided to do a random episode about the doctor for no real payoff and to eat into the 8hr max runtime. I also thought it was a good episode, too.

@Thing94 - I thought it was great. A perfect mix of Mando and Andor. The Andorlorian 😂

That entire B plot could have been summarized with one line of dialog from Elia to Moff when we see them together again “Yeah we’ve infiltrated the New Republic and I killed Pershing”.

@mountainman - is Pershing being killed at that point? I didn’t take it as that.

@philinterrupted - Let’s say he is just kind flayed and alive, a single line of dialog could have sufficed. Or a <5 minute montage vs all the time wasting we got.

@mountainman - I think there’s a long game for Persh. They need him.

@globaltravels - Andor is my favorite Star Wars product of the Disney era. The difference between Andor and this side quest was that Andor had good writing and acting while this did not.

I am a huge fan of episode 3's world expansion, but I hope that it ties directly into this Mandalorian storyline. Seeing Coruscant post-RotJ is illuminating to how the First Order likely came to be, but I'm not certain it makes sense to spend so much time off the Beskar path. I wasn't a thrilled when Book of Boba Fett put Mando episodes in its run because it ultimately had little to do with the overall narrative.

This has potential, and Elia Kane seems like a good despicable antagonist--convincing two-faced liars can be a hoot, especially when they look as physically intimidating as Katy O'Brian. I feel that this is going to play into the overall narrative across Ahsoka/Mando, but just wish they would pace these things correctly so it didn't interrupt the momentum of the story at hand.

Black mirror Star Wars last episode was a doozy

I have heard three rumors as to who saved Grogu.

1) Luminara Unduli

2) Palpatine himself (which would be dumb)

3) Mace Windu (which iI find to be silly fan fiction)

I don’t know who else it could be. All the other Jedi were killed. Obtain Wan was elsewhere and didn’t know that Anakin led the attack.
Yoda was also off world.

Could it have been Ahsoka? She had already left the Jedi and was elsewhere.

Or will they keep it a mystery and just show a hooded figure?

If they really want to troll us they could have Jar Jar Binks save him .😂

@TyrantBossMedia - luminara would be cool or some other Jedi we don't know. Palatine would be TROS bad and Mace would be stupid.

@TyrantBossMedia - Ashoka wouldn't make sense, she was busy burying clone corpses when Anakin attacked the Jedi temple.

@Taonrey - correct.

This sounds like a filler episode...I dont [frick]ing care who found Grogu. Please focus more on the Mandalorian again...

I think you can take the last scene in multiple ways: A) the girl is now sick of the empire and wants them all dead, including the doctor, B) she's still working with the empire and does not want the cloning technology to fall in hands of the NR. C) she's working with the empire and wants the doctor dead because he's betrayed them.
