Season 2 of The Mandalorian ended with Moff Gideon's defeat, Din Djarin becoming the rightful wielder of the Darksaber, and Luke Skywalker taking Grogu into his care.
Despite some dangling plot threads, it felt very much like a series finale and there was a lot of concern among fans that the show had reached its end. It was later confirmed that The Book of Boba Fett will be released this year, with The Mandalorian season 3 set to arrive sometime in 2022.
Various other spinoffs are on the way, of course, including Ahsoka and Rangers of the New Republic (the latter is still believed to be in the early stages of development despite Gina Carano's firing). However, the StarWarsOnly YouTube account is claiming to have learned that the third season of The Mandalorian will, in fact, be the last.
That probably means the quest to retake Mandalore will be the primary focus of season 3, though we find it hard to believe Lucasfilm won't revisit these characters in some form. The Mandalorian has been hugely popular on Disney+ and there have been rumblings of an eventual crossover event.
We're sure Din will eventually be reunited with Grogu too, but only Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni know what's being planned for this corner of a Galaxy Far, Far Away.
This is just a rumour for now, but we'll be sure to keep you guys updated as we learn more.
