With season 2 of The Mandalorian a matter of days away, excitement to return to a Galaxy Far, Far Away is rapidly increasing. Yesterday saw the launch of a whole new range of merchandise as well as an appearance from Moff Gideon actor Giancarlo Esposito on Good Morning America

With so much mystery still surrounding the villain, and how he got his hands on the legendary Darksaber, the hope is that season 2 of The Mandalorian will finally explain his place in the Galaxy.

Talking on the morning show, Esposito teased some new details about his sister Moff. "My character, Moff Gideon, is the warden of the Galaxy," he explained. "He is a remnant of the Imperial Empire, and he is still searching for his quarry, which we’ll hope he’ll find."

"I’m so happy to be part of a show that really depicts a story about humanity and heroism," Esposito continued. "You know, to be a hero is something that we all aspire to. I play some villains, but I really love the hero, and we need to be empowered by heroes today."

Esposito also recently narrated a Monday Night Football promo on ESPN which shows a young fan of the show - wearing Din Djarin's amor - as footage of the Chicago Bears and the L.A. Rams. plays. It's a cool promo, and one that does a nice job of promoting The Mandalorian's second season.

I wonder when will he be killed off.

Is he the main bad guy of the whole series, or just a few seasons?

Esposito was talking about season 3 and 4, so that probably spoils his character a bit.

@DARKSIDEIS - I think it’s crazy that they’ll be filming Season 4 next year.

Re-binged Mandalorian over the weekend and it really made me hyped to see a (hopefully) full season of Moff doing Moff things. This actor is so damn electric in everything he is in, and has that similar level of reserved intensity that Richard E Grant has, but Giancarlo is so much more smooth and demoralizing. Easily one of my favorite actors of all time

A "warden" for the galaxy? Like the whole galaxy is a prison and he oversees the inmates? People he used to oversee elsewhere? Interesting... maybe it was just a poor choice of words.
