ASSASSIN'S CREED Movie Will Feature Characters From The Game; Plus New Photos
In addition to Jeremy Irons & Michael K. Williams, it sounds like a few more assassins from the video game series will be making the leap to the big screen when Assassin's Creed hits theaters this December!
Entertainment Weekly has started rolling out segments from their upcoming Fall Movie Preview double-issue, and today, they've brought to us some fresh details and new photos from 20th Century Fox's upcoming big-screen adaptation of Ubisoft's popular video game series Assassin's Creed, which stars two-time Academy Award-nominee Michael Fassbender (X-Men: Apocalypse) as Callum Lynch and also as his assassin counterpart Aguilar.
While speaking with the film's weapons master Tim Wildgoose (Edge Of Tomorrow) about designing Aguilar's arsenal, which was inspired by Islamic art and architecture, EW was able to learn that a few of the other weapons featured in the film will actually be utilized by the exact characters that used them in the video game series. “There’s basically a few assassins taken straight from the games, who we get to see in the films. We actually get to use some of the real game weapons in there.” He clarifies that it won't be any of the lead characters from the games, so don't expect Altair, Ezio, etc., but they will be popular characters that fans of the hit video games should easily recognize: "They’re not main characters from the games, but they’re very famous characters that the fans will probably enjoy."
Two characters we already knew would be making the jump to the big screen are Alan Rikkin, a character that originiated in the first Assassin's Creed game back in 2007, and Baptiste, a character that made his debut in 2012's Assassin's Creed III: Liberation. Jeremy Irons (Justice League) is playing Rikkin and Michael K. Williams (The Night Of) is portraying Baptiste.
We also have three new photos from the movie, one you can see above, and you can check out two more below showing off Fassbender's intricate costume:
