Tribute Games and Dotemu have shared all-new details for the upcoming DLC for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge. The recently announced add-on, which is due out later this year, looks to introduce players to an all-new challenge in the form of a Survival Mode.
The new mode acts as any other survival mode in any other game. You're dropped into a dimensional gauntlet where you'll battle across a wide variety of arenas and square off against all sorts of adversaries. As you progress, you'll collect power-ups, including ones that temporarily turn you into some of the turtles' biggest rivals. Like the base game, the Survival Mode will still support drop-in/drop-out co-op.
Interrupting a pizza party, Dimension X’s raddest rebels – the Neutrinos – call on the Turtles for help. The Foot Clan has been stomping across dimensions and only the mutant martial artists can stop them! Always ready to squash the bad guys, the Turtles agree to hit pause on the party and jump into the multiversal melee.
There is a goal for this new Survival mode. You'll travel across worlds in an effort to collect shards that are used to assemble dimension crystals. These multiversal gems allow you to travel deeper within dimensions where you'll encounter tougher challenges and eventually face off against Shredder himself.
Here's where things really take a turn for the cool. After you defeated an entire horde, you'll be presented with two rewards portals. Not only do these lead to your next fight, but they also offer you game-changing bonuses such as pizza to heal, large amounts of shards and canisters of ooze with special mutation effects that provide attack boosts or even transform your hero into other notorious villains like Bebop, Rocksteady or even Shredder for a few rounds. If you are able to complete the challenge and defeat Shredder, you're given the option to return home to the Neutrinos or continue to try and increase your high score and secure your place atop the leaderboards.
If you haven't played Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge, I highly suggest you check it out. It's a side-scrolling action brawler that those who grew up gaming in the '90s will surely appreciate. TMNT: Shredder's Revenge received favorable reviews upon release last year, scoring an 85 on Metacritic. Dimension Shellshock doesn't have a release date yet but is expected to arrive this year. It will be available as paid DLC for Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and PC.
