Earlier this year,
WB Interactive Entertainment and
NetherRealm Studios released
Mortal Kombat X, the tenth entry into the MAIN
Mortal Kombat series (just to clarify, that is NOT including ANY spin-offs and crossover titles) to the strongest sales in the series' history. While the game has been out on
PC,
Playstation 4 and
Xbox One for quite some time (and there is even a relatively popular mobile companion game), the title has yet to be released on
Playstation 3 and
Xbox 360 systems. Unfortunately for fans who still haven't made the move to next-gen, the game will no longer be released on these previous generation consoles.

WB Interactive Entertainment revealed in a recent post on the
WB Community Forums that the game was no longer being released on the previous generation systems, as the game could not be made up to the standard and quality of
Mortal Kombat on the limited hardware of the system.
Yorick, the head admin of the entire forum, issued the following statement on the matter:
"After months of development, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has come to the regrettable conclusion that we cannot release Mortal Kombat X for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Please know our teams worked diligently to meet the quality standards set by the current-gen versions of the game. We were not able to get the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions to the quality expected of a Mortal Kombat game and are very sorry for not being able to deliver the products as originally planned.
If you pre-ordered Mortal Kombat X for PS3 or Xbox 360, please go to the retail location where you pre-ordered the game and you will receive a full refund"
This certainly must be disappointing news for fans of the hit fighting series who can't afford to upgrade to a current generation console, but it seems that it was an unavoidable situation on the studio's behalf.
