New MORTAL KOMBAT Movie Demo Reel

New MORTAL KOMBAT Movie Demo Reel

A demo reel is making the rounds on the net and looks like way too much work for a fan to do. Could this be the darker, grittier Mortal Kombat movie fans have been asking for?

Devin Faraci of Chud.com recieved the video of what appears to be a demo reel of the new Mortal Kombat film in his email inbox and even he believes that the reel is most likely the real deal. Michael Jai White is seen in the clip as Jax along with some other reveals of Reptile, Shang Tsung, Scorpion, Sonya, Johnny Cage and Baraka. The footage is definately leaning on Rated R deliciousness so be warned.

If this is fan made than they are genius - because this looks like it's footage that is going to be used to shop to studios to convince them to fund the full making of the movie.

Here are some screenshots -

Jax - aka Michael Jai White -

Reptile

Johnny Cage

Scorpion

Baraka

The clip is around 7 minutes long and has a fight scene between Cage and Baraka - it looks amazing. This gives me hope that they can do a Mortal Kombat movie justice by grounding it in reality. FINISH HIM!

I'm not gonna lie, it looks REALLY cool, but I have a LOT of issues with it.

I though Jax was an army guy, not a cop (I don't know).

Baraka... Gawd, I'd prefer Barakapool over that guy anyday.

SubZero looked... terrible.

Cage is dead? The [frick]?

I can live with Reptile.

You know, after watching that like 10 times now, I FEAR for The Crow and Spawn.

At first I wasn't digging the realism they were trying to inject into the concept, but by the end of the clip I was pretty much sold on the idea. It certainly left me wanting more.

IIII dunnnooooooo......

sure it looked good. but it didn't feel like mortal kmobat until the end. with jax talking about a tournament. if this movie got made they would just reboot it 3 years later with the same look and style but more closely adapted form the game.

im torn.

Yes it is Sonya Blade. And the guy in the Tux in one of the pics must be Shang Tsung. I love the fight it was awesome aswell as this earthly mystery with a majestic feel. Oh and no Jax and Sonia were not military they were part of a United States Special Forces unit that specializes in Outer World Investigation.

Always thought a mortal kombat movie with an original story, something like big trouble in little china but more epic would be awesome. Can't watch this with the volume on right now but have to say i'm really not liking it.

yeah Kev, that's the hope I'm riding on as well, but that is only a sub-set to the hope that this is actually demo footage and not just a fan thing

OH, and INB4 "THIS ISN'T COMIC BOOK RELATED, WAAAAH!"
trust me, I'm the biggest perpetrator of crying "not relevant to this site's interests" when the time comes (remember all that Avatar coverage?) but if anyone's questioning this, Google the Mortal Kombat Malibu Comics run

So the main character is Scorpion? What happen to Liu Kane? (However you spell his name) The story is different, but it looks cool. The fight scenes better be awesome.

@ MsKyle08: Why can't you?

@ YeaOkYea: they tend to kill him off because originally he was suppose to be Van Damm who was suppose to be the games character but he turned down the game and later when they asked him to play him in the movies he turned them down again.

Well... it looks... really... really... bad. I mean, i'm glad they changed certain things to make it seem more reality based since Annihilation sucked ass trying to be accurate to the bone (and by that i mean campy as [frick]) but... i have to say that the only decent thing about all this is White as Jax. Period. The rest seems awful. The worst part has got to be Johnny Cage. Gawd he made the original one seem awesome when he was one of the worst things of that first film. At least the first one sold his concept of being a joke of a martial arts film superstar. This guy looks like he couldn't even star in D movies even if he screwed his way in! Even his choreography sucked ass. This looks like a complete revamp of everything that made the first movie at least fun to watch. I really hope it's not part of the production already in progress but actually just a star made trailer to sell the idea. I wanna see something way better for the real trailer and feature film.

I liked the first movie, the second sucked, but this movie looks fantastic. I would go to the theater to watch this movie. Not a fan of this Baraka, but the rest look cool, and Sub-Zero looks very menacing. Hope it is real.
