New Mortal Kombat Movie in 2010?

Signs are pointing to a revamp of Mortal Kombat in 2010!

For anyone that did not watch Mortal Kombat Annihilation, it was the worst time to spend 90 minutes. That is the reason for a revamp of the Mortal Kombat movie franchise. A release date is set for 2010, and is to be a darker theme version of the first Mortal Kombat. A couple of names being thrown out there is Mortal Kombat Devastation and just Mortal Kombat

If anyone did not see the first one it was basically based on Liu Kang avenging his brothers death by the hands of Shang Tsung. Add some lack luster story lines behind Cage and Sonya Blade and that is basically Mortal Kombat 1. Christoper Morrison aka. Mink is set to direct the piece and Sean Derek is on tap to write the screenplay. For those that do not know mink he is best known for directing the heavily criticized and very poor (in my opinion) “Into The Sun” with Steven Segal. But everyone deserves a second chance and if he does direct this let’s hope he leaves the 58 year old Segal out of it.

This article was just to get all you Mortal Kombat enthusiasts excited for the possibility of Liu Kang kicking some butt. There will be a lot more information coming very shortly so stay tuned.

Hey this guy did Full Clip, which was Busta Ryhmes' starring debut! I say hell yeah, give him 100 million dollars to do a movie!

And after, we can go swimming in nuclear waste. We might get superpowers! Who's with me?

There's been talk of a new movie for YEARS. Never known anything to get actually started.

But I disagree with you about the first movie. It was actually pretty good and state of the art for a mid-budget movie in the 90s. It was awesome.

The second movie however WAS a complete waste of time and money. The only reason I bought it was because it was on the same DVD disc as the first movie.

I liked the first movie. The second one was boring but like SGA said, same dvd disc.

lol, they put it on the same disc knowing no one would by Annihilation by itself. I actually saw the steaming pile in theaters. I hope this steps it up. Has anyone seen the new Street Fighter? It wasn't great, but it was a VAST improvement on the original and I wouldn't mind a sequel. The kid from American Pie really sucked in it though... BAD. Literally some of the most unconvincing acting I've ever seen.

Why can't they just make a good Mortal Kombat movie? Why???

I actually bought it by itself, at a yard sale for 50 cents. It's so bad that Hastings wouldn't take it as a trade in. Oh well. As an MK fan, let's hope for a kickass movie. Stephen Chow for Liu Kang! Tony Jaa for Kung Lao!!! Plus it has to have a good Subzero/Scorpion fight, not the lame as crap that was in Annihilation.

The first movie was crap..but it was entertaining crap. Didnt see the 2nd one. I wont be getting in any way exited by this since there never has been a decent game to movie adap, and by God, there never will be!

I have a strong feeling it will disappoint, but if they do this, they better make it like Fist of the North Star blood bath. Because I mean come on, that's what built these games, and they give us a PG-13? Twice no less.

All honesty, they should just stop trying to convert fighting games into movies, because the point of the games was to kick the crap out of someone, with a cheesy story line, that you could really care less, you just want to unlock all the characters and beat the snot out of your friends.

Hopefully better, They have to stop letting everyone else have abilities or special moves and the earthlings are just normal. I know they do it to make it look like they overcome so much, but people what to see all the characters with all the moves. The tv series was better than the movies.

They have been saying this for nearly a decade - and there has still been no reboot. So this is really just a waste of our time - I don't even know why I wasted the time to respond to this, I must be really bored.

They need to REDO the franchise not add a sequel... It could be a cool movie to see now that we see mutant powered movies are a success and they have those as references... We shall see though, never expect too much from FOX.

the first movie was awesome, and if anyone remembers the music is what made it even better, i remember it getting 4 stars and two thumbs up. they thing about the second one is that they tried to put way to many characters into it. you cant do that, the mk story line is so damn good, you just cant start throwing the characters from all the games and say make a movie, the stories for each game are great but they should have put just a few more characters into the movie at a time if they wanted to make more movies. so i hope they can fix it.

Who's gonna be Liu Kang?? They already picked the ideal actor for him, Robin Shou, but he's just way too old for that now!
