Entertainment Weekly has published this new photo from Walt Disney Pictures' Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, opening in theaters on May 28, 2010.

In the fantasy adventure based on Ubisoft's popular video game, Jake Gyllenhaal will play Dastan, a young prince in sixth century Persia who must join forces with Tamina (Gemma Arterton), a feisty and exotic princess, to prevent a villainous nobleman from possessing the Sands of Time, a gift from the gods that can reverse time and allow its possessor to rule the world. Alfred Molina, Ben Kingsley and Toby Kebbell co-star.

they didn't ruin the story the same guy that wrote the story for the games made the script for this movie.... I highly doubt he would destroy his own franchise.

He doesnt look any where close to persian...I'm half persian, its easy to tell who is and who isnt...all they did was give him "the sands of time" attire and made him grow his hair out... looks more like a dress-up halloween costume if you ask me.

I remember the guy they were originally going to choose to be the prince, he was an unknown persian actor...looked the part and could of acted the part... I dont know why they always have to use the same people over and over...especially, if they look no where near that ethnicity....which is this case

But, on the positive side, this movie will probably follow the sands with an altered story, and of course since Disney is behind it, it'll make money like "pirates of carribean trilogy"....and from what Ive heard this is suppose to be the " Sands trilogy"... so well see, how that works.

Aiiwolf just talks out of a his a-hole. he is part persian. anyway does it matter? I thought its called acting? As for calling him self an expert only on the knowledge that he is "Persian" i bet he couldn't tll a mexican ,greek,turkish,ect.. apart from one another since he has never bin out of the country, By now every one is a mutt. espacially from the east! Face it were all the same at the end. But he's right at the end. This better bee good.

It does look promissing. I'm just afraid that the fact it's a disney film will deprive us from some bloody action scenes.

teabag@ lol!! The Sands of Bel Air!

yeah Aiiwolf, get over it. i am mexican and there have been A LOT of foreign actors who are supposed to play latino-characters and they don´t always look the part. It is Hollywood. It´s all about recognizable faces, man.

The only exceptions are movies like Slumdog millionare, for example.

Let´s hope this rocks!

Osiris - 7/18/2009, 9:57 AM
@droopy@ from what I have seen it does look like it has that Pirates vide it is being produced by Jerry Bruckheimer.

As for sand monster I have yet to see that but the only thing I have seen was a behind the scenes interview with Jake and it showed a few pre production clips, one was a fight scene which looked pretty good, I'll see if I can find that again.

LOL Teabag!!!!

I think Disney did a Good Job with Pirated of the Carribean.

So I think they can keep it rolling with the Prince of Persia.

I want to see him Running Across Walls like the Game.

They Better Make that happen.

Lol Teabag...that's good shit!

As for the movie...I'm a big fan of the games. If he doesn't run along or up a wall or even jump over a giant gap I will be pissed off! The whole premise of the game is that your this quick and agile bad ass. All I could see so far is just the sword play...I hope they are putting more to the action and choreography.

Phinehas@ I bet you were interested in the dark knight. Oh but wait that had a gay cowboy in that to. ummm thats odd.
Phinehas
Phinehas - 7/19/2009, 12:31 AM
I knew some "clown" would chime in on that example. Well note that the "other" gay cowboy was the villian, not the hero. And the gay cowboy was the clown. The clown was the villian. Not too difficult for me. Also, if a sodomite was the villian in Prince of Persia, that fact wouldn't stop me from watching it.

FRESH PRINCE OF PERSIA: Jeffery's great adventure
CaptainFalken
CaptainFalken - 7/19/2009, 11:10 AM
I believe this will be good. First off, Jerry Bruckheimer did the Pirates trilogy with Disney and that came out exceptionally well. Plus that proved they don't have a problem doing a PG-13 film. Second, Jordan Mechner, THE GUY WHO CREATED THE GAME, wrote the script, and I'm pretty confident he wouldn't butcher his own franchise. This looks pretty good so far, despite all the crying about how he doesn't look Persian. He looks about as Persian as the Prince in the game did, and he honestly does look like the Prince. He's got a bit of a tan, which is pretty much how the Prince in the game was. As long as they don't water down Warrior Within (seeing as how this is supposed to be the game trilogy transferred to screen), I'm good.

"As for calling him self an expert only on the knowledge that he is "Persian, I bet he couldn't tll a mexican ,greek,turkish,ect.. apart from one another since he has never bin out of the country"

What the [frick] are you talking about? Stop acting like you know me...I have alot more knowledge on my mixed background and my culture than your stupid-ass...and lastly, you dont know anything about me, nor which countries Ive travelled and LIVED in....you dont know If Ive been to Iran, or Pakistan, or Paris....or Turkey...etc...so maybe you are the one that needs to stop talking from his A-hole :)

Ps: Yes, ethnicity DOES matter. You can look the part, but if you cant speak farci without the accent, nor have some sort of knowledge of our culture besides that fact we all like hummus...than yes it is going to offend me, why would I want a swedish-JEW starring a role as a persian PRINCE lol... theres so many ethnicities out there and we keep choosing the same bitches over and over.

@ SirJediFrank
Uh nooo...that doesnt make any sense when you said: "The only exceptions are movies like Slumdog millionare, for example." Why would that be an exception? Explain?

@ Fearless

Totally agree with you.
I dont have anything against JAKE....but he doesnt LOOK PERSIAN at ALL...And thats exactly what I said..."Why couldnt they choose an actual PERSIAN to play the part?" Maybe, because hollywood is ran by Jews lol...they dont want a Muslim to be successful. lol
Osiris
Osiris - 7/19/2009, 11:09 PM
Whoa Aiiwolf, calm down... you can't go saying you have more knowledge then someone else when you don't even know him or anything about him..... your being hypocritical.....and besides it's the internet there is nothing you can do about it so just let it go.
