Lara Croft Gets New TOMB RAIDER Screenwriters For Upcoming Reboot

Deadline is reporting that Iron Man screenwriters Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby have been brought aboard by GK films to write the script for the reboot of the Lara Croft, Tomb Raider film series.

Says Deadline, "The real obstacle for this reboot is overcoming the fact that the ideal actress for the Lara Croft franchise is the one who played her in the first place. Female-driven action films have proven to be something of a dead zone in most cases. Besides Jolie, few actresses have been successful as action heroes, with Kate Beckinsale doing business in the Underworld series and Mila Jovovich in the Resident Evil films. Beyond getting a strong script and filmmaker, GK’s challenge will be combing the list of up and coming actresses to find the next Jolie."

So, who should play the new Lara Croft? Share your opinions below.

Jolie is the only Tomb Raider for me!

Keeley Hawes, the royal lady who was the voice of Lara in the last four "Tomb Raider" games, from the TV series "Ashes to Ashes"!

Heres a thought - Why not use the ideal actress again? She's willing and able. No reason they can't use her.

Agreed, Lara is a seasoned woman in her mid 30´s. no reason why not using Angelina again.

Well now it seems UbiSoft are going into film production so the days of shoddy games-based movies could soon be a thing of the past. Check it out:

Luc Besson should direct a movie based on Ubisoft´s cult classic game "Beyond good and evil".

I agree with grif. Both Tomb Raider outings were utter garbage.

Should have been Indiana Jones with tits and it was far from it. I have hopes the reboot will be based on the new game they're working on, looks like it would work better than the original games for a movie adaptation.

have no problem with a female lead, but they need a better story line, so writers are key, as well as a good actress for the roll, and yes, unless Angie doesn't want to do it, then I hope the take the time to find a good replacement. Not just based on looks.

I just got chills thinking about the guys that wrote Children of Men and Iron Man doing this. It might actually be a watchable Tomb Raider.

Actually I was really hoping for a third/ final Angelina Jolie-Lara Croft. Hey the third one is a charm. She's still looks fine.

But if they must then my vote goes to Lady Sif-- Jaimie Alexander.

My vote goes to Olivia Wilde. She's proven she can do action in Tron: Legacy and she has even been seen in a mock-up Lara Croft outfit. She'd be PERFECT!

Avatar and The Losers showed that Zoe Saldaña would be the "next Angelina" in the action films. She can pull Lara Croft's Tomb Rider movie for sure

Zoe Saldaña as Lara? That´s a negative.

She would be perfect as Lara´s friend, Anaya Imanu
from Tomb Raider Legend.

As long as the actress is hot, can act, the movie overall is decent, does it really matter?

Brazilian model Ellen Roche would be better then.

If those guys wrote the Iron Man scripts, then this movie is going to be a no-brainer. Them guys can't write intellect if they had all of their brain activated. So far, this film is off to a bad start. If that being the case, I don't care who plays Lara's character and runs it into the ground.

@victorHugo: Why not? she's got the acting talent, the action skills, the attitude and above all she is so damn hot! +98% of the ww population know her for her role in Avatar. I think an unknown for a videogame adaptation (re-boot or not) is not the right way to go... and she can match Angelina's appeal... MHO

angelina jolie was my favorite, but being a reboot, give it to olivia wilde

Rhona Mitra. I freaking loved her in Doomsday. The movie wasn't that great, but she was awesome.

@jer3miah. Did you hate Iron-Man or something? They didn't write Iron-Man 2, but they did write Children of Men. See it and then tell me they can't write intellect.
