RUMOR: WB's 2017 UNTITLED EVENT FILM Is The TOMB RAIDER Reboot

Could the October 2017 Untitled WB Event Film actually be for Warner Bros.' Tomb Raider reboot? A new rumor says that's the case and that WB definitely wants The Force Awakens' Daisy Ridley to star.

A new rumor from Heroic Hollywood states that the 2017 release date recently secured for an Untitled WB Event Film is secretly for the studio's Tomb Raider reboot.  Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Daisy Ridley was recently rumored to be WB's top choice for Lara Croft but a deal has yet to be finalized.  The currently 'Untitled WB Event Film' is set for release on October 6, 2017 meaning that if this rumor pans out, production on the reboot will need to start very quickly.  Heroic Hollywood goes on to report that the film will be titled The Tomb Raider and that producers are aiming for a Fall start date, allowing them to secure Daisy while she's in-between shooting Episode VIII and Episode IX.

Roar Uthaug will direct from a script written by Geneva Robertson-Dworet.

Do you think an announcement is immanent, confirming Daisy Ridley for the role of Lara Croft?  While not impossible, it would certainly be a tight window for Ridley to shoot another blockbuster feature. That window would get even tighter if there are reshoots.  What do you think of the rumor? A Tomb Raider reboot was inevitable but is Ridley right for the role?

@Ryuk1995 - she shows a nice enough range in a 2013 movie (Gimme Shelter) but yeah Vikander would be nice as well.

@Clark4President - Mind blown by this comment. Yes! Yes! Yes! That is a brilliant idea. Please no Daisy Rey!

Btw-Does a young Kate Beckinsale even exist? I say we all combine forces and low IQ's to create a cloning facility asap. She ain't getting younger.

Since they are putting all of their eggs in just a few baskets, this one kind of surprises me. There is all kinds of untapped potential there, but game movies are historically a tremendous gamble. That said, so were CBMs at one time. I hope that they can nail this down, and make it great.

@Cles - were cbm ever really a huge gamble I mean there have been some flops but the first two batman and superman were successful for their time
The72nd
The72nd - 4/8/2016, 12:44 PM
@Cles - but in those early days, superman: the movie was always good, along with some others. There's never been a good video game movie. The best one is either mortal Kombat or prince of Persia, and both of those are really mediocre.

@Ryuk1995 - Well, to be fair, we're talking about four movies that were successful, where a number of others (Supes 3 and 4, Supergirl, Swamp Thing, Red Sonja, Howard the Duck, Punisher, etc etc etc) were not. They were at least enough of a gamble that we saw the funding that studios were willing to give to them drop drastically over a decade, then remain low for anything that wasn't Batman until the late 90's when a story like Blade had appeal. You could make the same comparison to Resident Evil / original Tomb Raider and a number of other sub-par sub-funded video game adaptation. That's all I really meant.

@Cles - True

@The72nd - I won't lie, I kind of have a soft spot for the original Resident Evil. But even considering the Supes/Bats films, we're talking about a very few films that did well comparatively for pretty much 2 decades.

@Cles - I actually forgot about resident evil, I liked it alright as far as I remember. And yeah, CBM's were risky business for a while, but there was precedence that they could be good. We don't have that yet with video game movies. I'm hoping this year's assassin's creed movie can change that.

@MiopTop - Ridley's boob's are too small. Cast a broad with titties like these. You can definitely find a hot actress that's not a shitpile (*cough*gal gadot*cough*) with knockers like these!!!
