... So they've just replaced Drake with Lara?
Silmane

@TokenNerd Wrong, Lara was around before Drake. I really shouldn't have to point that out.

i know that she's been around longer, but the climbing the cars hanging from the cliff looks exactly like the start of Uncharted 2, where drake is climbing up the trains in the snow.... just saying

Lara was doing that way before Nathan Drake, dude.

You can tell Crystal Dynamics is trying to reinvent the Tomb Raider series, but I hope they don't forget what the Tomb Raider games are all about.

It sucks it was delayed until next year. The game looks like it has the potential to be the best Tomb Raider game so far.

@TokenNerd If the Tomb Raider series didn't exist, nether would the Uncharted series. That's the truth.

The Tomb Raider series wrote the book on 3rd person adventure games.

No no no, Drake has a different story. Its just completly unnecessary to compare him with Croft! Both are great and have similar story but they are not the same :)

I will give this remake a chance because it might be a good idea with a different Lara croft. Looking forward for the trailer:)

@JillValenfield The stories are different, but at heart of the games, they are both about adventurers(treasure hunters).

I wasn't saying one was better then the other. I was just stating before Nathan Drake, there was Lara Croft. You have to give props to the adventurer that started it all. ;)

Why can't Tomb Raider movies repeat the awesomeness of the Indiana Jones movies?

So basically another company that follows the path, ignores what made lara croft in the first popular, now is too serious. I won't be buying this. If you I wanted a serious game I'd play Uncharted or something.

So Uncharted was concept-wise, heavily based on Tomb Raider - no one really disputes this. However, the Uncharted series seriously upped the ante as far as storytelling and presentation and made their own significant mark in this manner. Now Tomb Raider in turn has taken lessons from what Uncharted has done and added it into the TR games.

It is very fair to say that TR is copying/emulating the Uncharted series, but this is not a bad thing and they should not be looked down on for doing so. It's a good thing to emulate the successes of your competitors and we all win because the games are getting better. The Uncharted series owes a debt to TR for concept and now the new TR will owe a debt to Uncharted for storytelling and presentation.

@mgeoff - giving credit to the first is great. Why not also give credit to the franchise that added in such amazing storytelling and presentation? Uncharted simply blew TR out of the water in that regard. LOVED the TR games, but Uncharted provided me the very first truly cinematic gaming experience i'd ever seen.

/Don't see why we can't just love both franchises and be glad of any improvements

Uncharted...

@mwmcintyre Don't get me wrong, I love both of the franchises, but I was just saying, without Tomb Raider, there would be no Uncharted.

And like Jazzman said, Indiana Jones is the original adventurer. Without that iconic film character, we wouldn't have two of the greatest adventurer video game characters we have today.

Also, I agree that the Uncharted series did contribute a lot to the adventure video game genre, well, video games in general.
