Would Gemma Arterton Be Up For Playing Lara Croft In The TOMB RAIDER Reboot?

Many fans think Arterton would be a great fit for Lara, and while interviewing the actress for her new vampire flick Byzantium Empire asked some random Twitter questions, one of which was a Tomb Raider one. Find out what Arterton had to say about it after the jump.

We know there are plans for a Tomb Raider reboot, but who is going to take over from Angelina Jolie in the role of Lara Croft? British actress Gemma Arterton has been on many fan's wish-list for the role, and one of a series of Twitter questions put to her by Empire asks outright if she'd be interested. Arterton's reaction makes it seem like she's already heard something about it, and she gives the standard answer: "If the script was good", before acknowledging that it is the standard answer with a laugh. She then reveals that she was a big fan of the video game as a teenager. Here's the video interview, in which she also discusses splaying a vampire in Neil Jordan's Byzantium.

Well she'd be a lot better than that stick insect with the vein ridden arms they got to play Lara in those two awful movies.

At least she won't have to fake an accent and has a woman's curves to her booty instead of resembling a teenage guy like Jolie.

She's been at the very top of my list to play Wonder Woman for I don't know how long. Probably since Prince of Persia came out.

Her or Gina for WW!

I'd definitely be OK with this. Though, I can also see her as Wonder Woman if they get someone other than Gina Carano or Jaimie Alexander.

She's not a terrible actress. She's just played in some pretty bad movies. Saoirse Ronan is a great young actress but has played in some bad movies as well. Sometimes you have to work with what you got. A bad script is a bad script.

BTW, I use the same scoring system as Gusto and B&Y. I'm pretty sure it's on a scientific chart somewhere. A
Brit who is a 10 is the equivalent of your local mall rat in the USA.

No. No. No. No. No. No. Whilst hot, she isn't the best actress. I'm not saying she's terrible, I'm just saying her acting needs a lot of work.

Hayley Atwell please

As long as she's got the body and doesn't have huge swollen collagen lips like Jolie, fine with me.

Why does the actress have to be British? I mean, when an American character is being cast, we think of American, British and Australian actors who can play them. But when it's a British character, why do we only consider British actors?

Why is an American character expected to be played by a character of any nationality, but a British character is expected to be played only by a British actor? Why do people require authenticity for British characters but not American characters? Henry Cavill and Christian Bale are alright to play Superman and Batman, but Lara Croft has to explicitly be played by a British actress for authenticity?

Good American actors can pull off a convincing accent just as well as an Australian,a Brit, ect. can pull off an American one.

She DEFINITELY has the look. I'm not sure about her acting chops for that kind of role, but she obviously has a lot of action under her belt. I say they give her an audition. After all, she still has the accent. And Lara isn't defined by her voice, so anyone saying her voice is off is just stating their own opinion.

Actually I'd add 4 points for either Arterton's or Atwell's British accent - very hot!
