DC: Rebirth has been full of twists and turns for Wonder Woman; not only has she discovered she has a long lost twin brother, but the Amazonian princess has sensed the presence of a force that has been altering her life. The latest issue delivered yet another gut punch for the character.

The story sees Diana and Steve Trevor successfully returning to her homeland of Themyscira, but the both of them sense that something is amiss in their surroundings. Trevor removes Diana's silver bracelets, and as he does, the island fades into a barren wasteland. Diana, in grief, realizes that she has never once returned to the island since the first time she left with Trevor.

This is a pretty shocking twist, as it nulls much of Wonder Woman's prior history. Could this be the work of Doctor Manhattan, or perhaps another nefarious force is pulling Diana's strings? Let us know what you think below.

We are talking about DC, not Marvel and that f*cking Maximoff twins twist due to AoU!

@Doomsday8888 and people say that people are unfair to DC, here's the thing, I'm fine with this twist, but if you're okay with this, you should be okay with the Maximoff twist, because they're both huge changes to the stories, matter of fact, this is a larger change since the Maximoffs weren't even originally Magneto's kids.

@FranksCastle17 -
Oh give me a break!
What was the point of that retcon? Nothing!

There are good retcons and bad retcons.
Marvel mostly does bad retcons.
But hey, if you are ok with Spidey' One More Day, who am i to talk?

@Doomsday8888 the point was to add something to Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch and to give Uncanny Avengers an arc, as well as to demonstrate Scarlet Witch turning evil in AXIS, I'm fine with One More Day, I'm not happy in what caused it, but really, the Twins retcon wasn't really a bad one, it added to both the Twins and Magneto

@FranksCastle17 - Add something?
They had more layers as Magneto's children rather than...whaterver they are...
30 years of story....and you do this to make a storyarc? (btw i read that one too).
Also no need to demonstrate why someone is "evil" during Axis since that was already covered in the event.
Have you read that book?
You have Geoff Johns' Parallax retcon and this garbage, one is still standing, and the other?
When everything is said and done, what happens to Wanda and Pietro?
I'm sorry, i just can't get behind this, but to each their own.
But remember, no one is being "unfair" to Marvel!

@duncboy @FranksCastle17 - Actually this retcon is more about Rebirth in general, given the event's aim to get back to basics from the Pre-Flashpoint universe. Diana's story was one of those most heavily affected by the New 52's need for dark and gritty storytelling and changing things for the sake of being new. Along with the fact that many of her mythology elements were changed without considering the importance of those elements. The Amazons being a force of good and upholding a utopian society creates an important analysis for their role in Diana's career much the same way as Bruce Wayne's parents getting shot create for him. So when you change important facets like those, you essentially change the meaning of the character.

What with Diana's rebooted story elements, you essentially leave her as an entirely new character. I mean, yeah she's still THE SAME CHARACTER with the same virtues and stuff, but the implications are shifted to a point where you have to wonder if the people in charge of her don't respect her tentpole elements. It's different if they ADDED stuff to her story like Scott Snyder did with Thomas Wayne Jr. in Batman's but completely revamping the wheel leaves an entirely new conundrum that many fans didn't appreciate. Stuff like Diana getting her powers from Zeus instead of the GODDESSES creates an entirely new perception on the character so I think it's important we see where this goes.

Also, I'm pretty sure the movie went with the New 52 Zeus thing anyway so it wouldn't really be a retcon for the movie if that were the case?

@Doomsday8888 -

I like how they retconned Robbie Reyes getting the Ghost Rider's power...from an ACTUAL Ghost Rider spirit.

Him getting it from his Uncle was always retarted. As much as I do like Robbie in the comic.

I have to say, DC has been very clever with how they're doing these retcons. Any retcon could be potentially disastrous, but they've handled everything pretty well so far.
