Wonder Woman Could Wear the Classic Costume After All?

Wonder Woman Could Wear the Classic Costume After All?

It seems like maybe the fans could have jumped the gun in the case of Wonder Woman's television costume. NBC president Robert Greenblatt hints that the "classic" Wonder Woman short short look just may be planned for the series.

If you were one of the many fans who thought the more "subdued" version Of Wonder Woman's costume that Adrianne Palicki was seen wearing in the LA set photo's recently was in response to the fans "outcry" over the "shiny" costume revealed from the pilot, you would be wrong. It seems that not only will those two costumes both appear in the upcoming television show but according to NBC president Robert Greenblatt there is a third version that remains to be seen and it sounds like it could involve a more "classic" look.

Greenblatt had the following to say to TVLine.

"There was an initial outcry about the long pants – you know, skintight pants as opposed to those little shorts [worn by Lynda Carter in the original TV series]. But the shorts were always planned. They are actually used in the final confrontation when she beats Veronica Cale (played by Elizabeth Hurley). [...] We haven’t made any changes from what was planned. But it’s always good to hear the feedback. I’d rather have people really passionately engaged in conversation, even if they hate something, than be kind of bored.”

“There’s always critiques of everything. If we listen to all of that, we would probably never be able to get the job done. David’s a great writer… and I actually think he’ll bring an intelligence to [the show] that other … writers might not. I think it’s going to be interesting to see it cut together.”

Hawksblueyes: This could be good news indeed. Maybe, just maybe, we'll get to see a more faithful adaptation of the classic look after all.

Damage Control!!!

Read between the lines of what he is saying and you get the feeling there was a LOT of negative feedback on that crappy costume that she's wearing in the pics they released.

I honestly didn't mind the non-shiny version of the pants, myself. The full-on latex ones were ridiculous though.

I don´t want this show to die early like Bionic Woman and Sarah Connor Chronicles. Don´t be such woman haters!

I wanna a silly regular DC comics show on TV, just like "The Flash", enough with the Nolanization already.

Are people really THAT upset about the costume we've seen already? I'd like to believe that the costume shown above is the last thing a woman would want to wear while fighting crime. The costume we've seen seems more true to that reality which MAKES SENSE and that's all I want is a CBM or show to MAKE SENSE.

I agree with BOOSTER1. A movie would be better but for Warner Bros. this is probably a result of being money cautious in case this story sucks and no one watches the premiere. A lot cheaper than making a movie and no one going to see it.

i confirm N's comment!

there is nothing about this show that fixing the suit would help. the actress, the premise... everything is fail from the start. hell, she could be naked and it would still fail. this show bears no resemblance to Wonder Woman.

Say what you will about the quality of the show but I think as far as looks go, Palicki is a great fit for the part.

I'm willing to give it a chance. I'm not wild about the choice they made with Palicki but she could surprise me.

If I was able to support a crappy show like Smallville, I should be able to support this one which at least has Wonder Woman NOT waring a Matrix rip-off suit, or an Old Navy Spring Leather jacket...

@Hawks.... dude how can you say that?
Look at any contemporary illustration of Wonder Woman and compare it to Whatshername in costume.

Diana is built like a brick shithouse, her features are sharp and hard while still being beautiful.
She's an AMAZON.

Palicki is skinny, her face is soft and round, she hasn't buffed up at all for the part judging by the photos so far.

I'm obviously going to watch this and if she delivers a decent performance I'll be happy and support the show but to say she fits the part based on visuals (which is all we have atm) is totally not true.

Based on visuals, she is an utter miscast.

The amount of Damage control can never fix the mis-cast for the show ... People are like you can't have Gina Carano because she hasn't act but this is TV ... You never get the greatest acting either way ...

Photobucket

If you put the current girl in short shorts she will be looking horrible...

Shorts, shorts, shorts, shorts..........

But I agree with HAWKS@, I don't think
Adrianne looks that bad, at least she's
tall, 5'11"!

But the pants are just stupid!
Why pants? That's what I ask, WHY PANTS???
Wonder Woman has never worn pants!
Suzanne
Suzanne - 4/12/2011, 2:45 PM
I like the costume we have seen the pics of more then the older costume. It isn't surprising that they will be using the old costume too. On the old Wonder Woman show she had 3 or 4 different costumes.
CherryBomb
CherryBomb - 4/12/2011, 3:04 PM
This should be what the costume should look like

I get it, the short shorts looked great with Lynda Carter's version .. but this isn't the 70's. Wearing stupid looking costumes like that is awesome, but it looks sooo cheesy on screen.
