Saïd Taghmaoui Talks WONDER WOMAN Role; Is He Playing A Superhero?

Hit the jump and check out what the newest addition to the Wonder Woman cast, Saïd Taghmaoui, has to say about his role in Princess Diana's highly-anticipated solo outing, how that role came about, what he had to endure in preparation, and also how long shooting will last.

It wasn't until Saïd Taghmaoui had posted (and later deleted) our first Wonder Woman set images that we even knew the French actor had joined the supporting cast. However, thanks to keen eyes on Twitter as well as Google Translator, it appears the American Hustle star had actually revealed his inclusion in the long-awaited DC Comics adaptation to French magazine Ultra's October issue.

When asked what role he will be playing in Wonder Woman, Taghmaoui apparently said, "I'll be playing a superhero, but details are still under wraps, so I can't tell you much." We should note that this translation is a bit rough, and Saïd could have actually said he'll be playing one of the good guys as opposed to a supehero or a villain. Regardless, he was then asked how he had landed the mystery role, to which he credited good luck and hard work. "I was among hundreds of potential candidates, and I slowly became the favorite," he said. "It wasn't easy. It took me three months.   [I'll have to go through] extensive physical training. Shooting was slated to begin in November, and will take about 6 months, in 4 different countries." Who do you think Taghmaoui is playing?

Directed by Patty Jenkins and written by Jason Fuchs, Wonder Woman stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Saïd Taghmaoui, and maybe Nicole Kidman, with a release date that's scheduled for June 23, 2017.

Since WW may be taking place during WWII or WWII, he could be any member of the Golden-age Justice Society. Maybe Dr. Fate or Zatara?

The other day I thought I saw someone suggest Said could be Hawkman???

Which would be pretty neat/interesting, if true.

Maybe Maxwell Lord is a possibility? I'm still not sure about the "time period" for Wonder Woman, I wonder if it will take place present day and WWII

I think he could be one of the original members of the Justice Society if he's a superhero. It would be great to see Starman's story during WW1. Another team he could be with is Creature Commandos which was given the codename Project M. I'd really like to see a live action version of the Creature Commandos, because you know you'll be in for a really hilarius movie with them.

Someone look up a list of Wonder Woman supporting characters and make an educated guess who he is.

That makes me wonder, what if Wonder Woman works with/joins the Justice Society in the past and it's her idea to form the Justice League in present day???

It's obviously Doctor Psycho.

Haha, it's hard to even guess because we have no idea how they will approach the story

Hi there! I was the one who translated that! I should note that he said, literally, "I'll be playing a good guy superhero" in the original French. But since good guy superhero is redundant, I shortened it to "superhero".

I'm @cineloon on twitter.

I also translated another snippet of the article where it seemingly " confirmed" Hoyte Van Hoytema was on board as DP, and that the budget was a whopping $300 million (!)

Lol, true that.

So far, a suggestion I have is that he could be General Darnell, the commanding officer of Steve and Diana.

@Jollem

True. Can't wait to hear more about the movie. I have some comics to read in the meantime.

Edgar Cizko/Doctor Psycho is my guess right now, based on looks and what I know about the movie. From what little I know about the character, it would be crazy to see him on screen, I want to read up on him

I THINK I FOUND WHO HE IS PLAYING:

PHIL DARNELL: leader of military intelligence and for whom Diana Prince works for as a secretary.

He looks exactly like him.

Thanks for doing that and thank you for clarifying!

That is AWESOME news if Hoytema is Wonder Woman's cinematographer!! Spectre & Interstellar looked glorious.

And $300M is in deed whopping! haha.
