20th Century Fox's series of X-Men movies may have come to an end, but Simon Kinberg is still showing his support for X-Men Day by sharing some never-before-seen BTS snaps from his time working on the franchise.
Kinberg directed Dark Phoenix, but was a regular fixture as a producer on many of the previous films, and these photos also spotlight moments from the sets of First Class, The Last Stand, Apocalypse, and more.
Fox named May 13 X-Men Day back in 2019 in the build-up to Dark Phoenix's release (we're not really sure why, since Marvel's mutant heroes debuted in the pages of their own comic in September of 1963), and while that movie ultimately proved to be the final nail in the franchise's coffin, it's hard to argue with the success of the series overall.
The X-Men movies did prove to be highly divisive, and while there were some undeniable misfires (The Last Stand, X-Men Origins: Wolverine), we should keep in mind that Fox also brought us the likes of Days of Future Past and Logan.
The Children of the Atom will soon (we hope, anyway) be rebooted and take their rightful place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but we have some fond memories of this first incarnation of the iconic team.
