Kevin Feige Provides An Update On The X-MEN And The FANTASTIC FOUR Coming Home To The MCU

During a new interview with EW, Kevin Feige was once again quizzed about the possibility of Fox's stable of Marvel characters coming home to the MCU and offered a (somewhat) positive update. Check it out.

We're all very anxious to know where things stand with the recent Disney/Fox acquisition, and whether the deal will ultimately yield the result fans have wanted to see for years: The X-Men and The Fantastic Four joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Unfortunately, we're going to have to wait a bit longer for some definitive answers - although Kevin Feige did at least admit that he's relishing the prospect of being able to utilize those characters during an interview with EW:

"When and how that deal with Fox finishes and comes together and we’re told, “Hey, now you can start working on it. Now you can start thinking about it,” is when we’ll actually start thinking about it. I will say just the notion of having what, frankly, most other companies with [intellectual property] have all along, which is access to all of their characters, that would be fun."

There have been rumors that Comcast's involvement in these negotiations could throw a spanner in the works, but Feige's comments do seem to suggest that it's a matter of when, not if, the deal goes through and he can begin thinking about the best way to integrate these beloved characters to the MCU.

What do you guys make of Feig's comments? Be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place.

lol that's pretty much what i expected him to say! :P

I just hope that, once they start with everything, that they will give us an X-Movie every year, it's a very rich universe, with Spider-man they intend to give us 1 movie every 2 years, which is nice, so i hope they will do the same for X-Men, and in the gap year...i dunno, a spin-off movie? You know, like Lucasfilm is doing with SW movies. :)

I seem to recall Feige saying he had plans for how to introduce Fox and Sony characters into the MCU if he ever got the rights back. Despite what he's saying here, he's definitely working on something.

Sucks we won't see X-Men/F4 cross paths with RDJ's Iron Man or likely Chris Evans' Cap by the time they're introduced to the MCU, but their inclusion will certainly keep the MCU very much alive for the next 20+ years. With characters like Spider-Man, Black Panther, Doctor Strange, and Captain Marvel likely leading the charge for Phase 4 and beyond, the inclusion of the X-Men and Fantastic Four will keep us very entertained.

@VicSage - I hope they make Tony into an A.I., so we can at least get banter between Stark and future MCU characters. It also means he can show up only during specific events or whenever and his absence won't be questioned.

Patience's a virtue. Really hope everything turns out well for both companies at the end of the day.

@JosephCronos92 - Honestly, Comcast mucking up the deal would be preferable. Marvel would STILL get all their characters back, and Hollywood wouldn't turn into one huge Disney monopoly...

Sounds like a win-win if it happens...

MCU is perfect. Don't meddle with perfection, Feige.

The MCU is more than fine for the moment.

And to think Marvel put together the MCU without X-Men and F4, all while DC has had their entire roster - and they've been less than average when compared to Marvel. Honestly, seems like Feige is just a solid story teller and film maker.

Don’t care for the X-Men showing up, just give me Doom, the F4, and Galactus.
