Duncan Jones Getting Closer To Direct The Wolverine?

It looks like that director Duncan Jones will have a meeting with the studio about possibly taking over The Wolverine since Darren Aronofsky left the project. More after the jump!

Director Duncan Jones was in London doing the Q&A for his latest film Source Code, and he was also asked about that rumor if he had any meetings with the studio about directing The Wolverine, starring Hugh Jackman. Harry Knowles from Ain't It Cool News received a interesting message about that.

"Just got a message from one of my followers on Twitter - about a SOURCE CODE Q&A in London that Duncan Jones did, where he stated that he has a meeting with Fox coming up regarding the possibility of him taking over WOLVERINE in lieu of Aronofsky's departure. That said, apparently the MOON & SOURCE CODE director feels like he would rather do his own original sci fi script next, but is taking the meeting more or less to explore options and be polite."

While Jones was talking about that original sci-fi project for awhile now, if he likes the script for The Wolverine, anything could happen. Personally, he would be a great choice for this. I wanted to see him directing a comic book film since I watched Moon. What are your thoughts?

Pretty sure Slade made it clear that he won't be involve in The Wolverine.
Jones would be a good choice.

I'd rather it not be Jones. But only cos I want Jones to work on something better.
His sci-fi projects he has lined up all sound great, plus I don't think we really need another Wolverine.
Not without Aronofsky anyway, I was only excited cos he was attached tbh

Fron Wikipedia:

Duncan Zowie Jones (born 30 May 1971), also known as Zowie Bowie or Joey Bowie, is an English film director, best known for directing the science fiction films Moon (2009) and Source Code (2011). He is the son of rock star David Bowie.

Filmography

* Whistle (2002) (short film)
* Moon (2009)
* Source Code (2011)

Interesting...I'll have to see those flicks to get an idea of his work....

Honestly "Wolverine" was bittersweet for me... some things didn't work out, especially the time continuity-related ones with some characters... Until mnow don't have high expectations for "The Wolverine", but will see it because of my CBM love....

Wait and tell, nuff said!!

I'm so excited to see Source Code, but it looks like we're gonna get nothing of it here in Brazil.

I would love to see Duncan Jones direct the Wolverine. I actually prefer to his two movies (Moon and Source Code) over anything Darren Arronofsky has done.

Hope Jones takes it because he would help bring some credibility to it and is a talented director. I would much rather have Jones over Slade.

Hope he takes it.

he was asked about what he thought about wolverine

said he thought it was an interesting chracter but that he would rather work on his own stuff (like the last bit of the article says) never mentioned a thing about meeting with fox about it

I loved Moon alot. I haven't seen Source Code yet, heard it's very good. So Im ok with this. Im just hoping this will be 10x better than X-MEN ORIGINS. The whole movie was just unacceptable too me. Don't wanna even go into it.

Slade could direct Wolverine, but he's already doing Daredevil reboot. So, I don't think he would take this on.

@ jazzman

no hard candy & 30 days of night are good films,but can we trust him to deliver after twilight.

i'd rather see jones direct a cosmic movie for marvel,but the wolverine would do for the time being.

guys this is seriously a non story - the ign guy asked him about it and he shot it down there and then

someone even asked him if he were to do a comic movie what would he do and he said a 2000ad comic (cant remember the name of it though)

really nothing in this other than the last quote where he says the next movie he does will be a sci fi that he writes

Duncan is talented and great new director, but I don't think Wolverine fits his profile... the dude is kind of underground, outsider. Well, could be interesting, but is too risky for him to assume this elephant at this moment of his career.

Duncan Jones should not tarnish his image with this crap movie. Do your own thing, like you have planned.

I'd like to see Jones take this over, he wont make the same kind of movie as Aronofsky but it should be promising none the less.

Marvel72, are you saying Slade should have a made a good movie out of Twilight. No one could make a good movie with that source material but he did put together the best reviewed of all 3 Twilight films.
