New Set Reports & Scene Details For THE WOLVERINE

More set reports have surfaced from yesterday's Picton filming session for The Wolverine sequel, which involve something possibly iconic and rather scenic. Check it out after the jump!

As yesterday's shoot involved a bushy Hugh Jackman and a Hardware store bound in a small snow-covered Canadian town, some scenes were apparently filmed at the Picton set that onlookers were unable to see. In fact, according to Spotlight Report, it's what they could hear that was rather more interesting.

“After a break we saw the crew preparing some night shots, with the action happening in tiny alley next to the same hardware store, where we could hear Hugh screaming, while huge spotlight was placed with a crane illuminating the alley in the night and while some fake rain was introduced in the shot.”

“In addition we were told by an insider, that the last scene Hugh Jackman did, despite the cold temperatures at the location, was a very dramatic shot with cold rain in a small alley (possibly explains the iconic screaming heard) and that scene might be at the beginning of the film, before Wolverine traveling to Japan to learn the Samurai’s way.”

The sequence likely involves the "group of hunters" that were filmed yesterday loading their pick-up trucks with bags and rifles. Alluded to in earlier reports, the scenes may pay homage to Frank Miller's "Japanese Saga," which the film's loosely based on. That also involved Logan pursuing a vicious grizzly bear. What do you think?

Based on the celebrated comic book arc, “The Wolverine” finds Logan (Hugh Jackman), the eternal warrior and outsider, in Japan. There, samurai steel will clash with adamantium claw as Logan confronts a mysterious figure from his past in an epic battle that will leave him forever changed. Also starring Hiroyuki Sanada, Tao Okamoto, Rila Fukushima, Will Yun Lee, Brian Tee and Svetlana Khodchenkova, James Mangold directs a screenplay by Christopher McQuarrie and Mark Bomback. And “The Wolverine” is scheduled for release on July 26, 2013.

Why does everybody give Frank Miller credit for the Wolverine limited series? He only did the artwork. Chris Claremont wrote the story.

@KamenRiderJ22

I never understood why fans want film makers to tell the same exact story that we already know. I guess that's why I never enjoy movies that are direct adaptations of the book because I already know the ending.

Think of the comic book movies as a separate universe that coincides with all the other comic book universes going on. As long as the creators stay true to the CHARACTER, not the story, then I'm all for them changing what they see fit. Film makers are finally beginning to understand what can be translated from paper to the big screen with these adaptations.

@CBArtist: From what I've read, Claremont himself said Frank ran with and contributed quite a bit to the overall story and went a lot different than what he had planned. That's why Miller gets a lot of credit on the Wolverine mini.

This will be good, I am willing it to happen. And if they follow 10% of Miller's Wolverine it will be better than Wolverine Origins. I'm fine with them not following books to the letter but give us the goods and don't just make some stuff up(Sabretooth and Logan are not brothers) to satisfy plot holes.

@Himura & cipher- So you didn't like Sin City? Come on man...

What would work well & look badass is when Logan is in Japan,he wears a mask that resembles the comic book version when he's fighting ninjas & stuff..obviously ninjas wear masks & Silver Samurai damn well better have is mask / helmet.

He could have the mask / costume just for a few scenes like when he doesn't want to get recognized by those who my be able to identify him...or just to look cool because that mask is freaking cool people!
