ORIGINAL STORY:

As you've most likely heard by now, the currently untitled Wolverine sequel (which many have taken to calling The Wolverine 3) will be Australian actor Hugh Jackman's last time playing the feisty mutant. After seventeen years playing James Howlett/Logan/The WolverineJackman has decided it's time to retire from the role, leaving many fans excited to see what big plans that Fox has in store for arguably their most recognizable mutant. Naturally, this has caused mass speculation, with a popular theory being that the film will be some sort of adaptation of the beloved Old Man Logan storyline by Mark Millar, and that Liev Schreiber will reprise his role as Victor Creed.

Recently Jackman
tweeted a photo of himself working out for the role, with the caption "Let's do this! [Who's] with me!?", to which Schreiber replied "Do I have to do that...".

While many fans took that as a tease that Schreiber WILL be reprising his role, he recently revealed, when asked about the tweet, on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that the tweet was completely misinterpreted by fans.

“People have surmised that from my tweet, but I wasn’t. I was really just saying is that something I have to do as I get older. Is that how I approach middle age? Like that.”

Following up, Fallon wanted to know if Schreiber would be willing to reprise the role, to which he replied

“Well, what I heard was... I don’t know if I’m invited, but I heard that the storyline is Old Man Logan. And when I heard that, I thought, ‘Well, you know there’s Old Man Logan, there could be Old Man Sabretooth.’”

While this comment could be cause further speculation, with fans stating that it sounds like Old Man Logan WILL be adapted, it does seem that Schreiber hasn't heard anything official, and is merely stating that he's heard the same rumours and theories as everyone else. It is also important to note that, even if Old Man Logan DOES get adapted, it will be a far cry from the source material, as a number of the characters involved in that storyline are owned by Marvel Studios over at Disney.

What do you guys think? Is it possible that Schreiber is merely playing coy to throw fans off, or do you think he genuinely didn't mean to tease anything with his tweet? What do you expect The Wolverine 3 will be, and, more importantly, what do WANT it to be? Sound off in the comments below, and be sure to like and share this post!

The untitled Wolverine sequel is due in theatres in 2017.

Have you considered making a "Feature" article so that more people see it?

@SonofBatman

Yeah, I think he was definitely one of that movie's strengths. It definitely needs to be a BIG movie.

I've done my best to totally blank Origins out of my mind, but sure, bring him back.

He is one of the things I actually enjoyed about the film, so if he comes back, I certainly wouldn't mind at all.
Taylor Kitsch was good too, if I remember his scenes correctly.

He was not a good Sabretooth. His eyes are too kind.

If he wasn't already a talking tree in the MCU proper, I would say Vin Deisel would be perfect. Put a wig on him and a bit of CG, here and there and go for a more comics-based Sabretooth. Winner, winner, chicken dinner.

I don't care what anyone says about X-Men Origins Wolverine. Yes it was bad but Jackman and Liev's chemistry was one of the best chemistry between a hero and villain in a CBM. Both gave it 110% and came off as badasses.

If only it was a good movie.

@LEVITIKUZ

Yeah, totally agree. They really had a chemistry that really NEEDS to be the standard for CBMs.

I dont understand people, I enjoyed Origins...especially the first half hour which had Saber tooth in it, I thought he was good...hell much better than X's version of him...that was corny...people keep saying that the chsracters need to identical to their material, I disagree, film makers should have leeway, son charactwrs suck if adapted verbatim
