X-MEN Movie Timeline/Continuity

X-MEN Movie Timeline/Continuity

Here is my theories on how the X-Men movie series will be like now that Days of Future Past has some fixed somewhat of the continuity. Caution there could be spoilers from Days of Future Past in here.

With the release next week of Days of Future Past, I thought I'd look quickly into the X-Men film timeline. There have been recent reports that DoFP retcons X-Men 3 and possibly Origins, which leads me to believe that DoFP opens up alternate timelines/dimensions into the film series.

Here is how the series is currently with the DoFP(dystopian beginning)

Origins (beginning part 1800s-WWII)-----First Class-----Origins(Rest of Movie)----X-Men----X2----Last Stand----The Wolverine-----DoFP(Dystopian beginning part)

Now here is my theory, at the end of DoFP everything is changed which leads to an 2 all new timelines that run parallel to the original timeline. The first timeline wipes out everything from Origins all the way through Wolverine. So in sense the timeline would look like this:

Origins(beginning part)-----First Class---DoFP(Past)----------------New Future

SPOILERS!!!

This would allow for characters like Jean Grey, Cyclops to be alive and to return in future movies.

END OF SPOILERS!!

The second timeline would be almost the same as the one above except it has a spot for X-Men :Apocalypse, since it has been stated that it will be set during the 1980s. Again allows characters to return (as younger selves) and to still include the First Class cast. This timeline would look like this:

Origins (beginning part)-----First Class----DoFP(Past)-----Apocalypse

Now what about The Wolverine 2, depending on what it is about it, can be placed in either timelines. The potential crossover with The Fantastic Four (which Simon Kinberg recently said probably wouldn't work) could also be placed in either timeline as well, or could be a seperate timeline.

So in review, here is my timelines

                                                                           I------------------------------------------------------------New Future
                                                                           I
Origins(beginning part)---First Class---DoFP(Past)---Origins(rest)--XMen--X2--Last Stand--Wolverine--DoFP
                                                                           l    l_______________________________________________l
                                                                           l--------------------Apocalypse

Hope you all enjoyed this and thanks for reading

@Doopie haha absolutely, it is in fact just a movie. I just hope the movie clears up a lot of the problems and doesn't create more.

People want movies to be more like the comics don't they?
Well then embrace the idea of sloppy time travel and continuity errors.

They also said the other day that F4 and X Men would not be in the same universe.

Rogue has white streaks in her hair in the "new future" from DOFP so X Men 1 must have happened.

This how i saw this messed up timeline
Timeline 1: Xmen 1-3, Wolverine
Timeline 1.5 Wolverine: Orgins
Timeline 2. First Class
Timeline??: Xmen: DOFP

Now in DOFP its seems timelines 1 and 2 are being shown to be the 1 timeline where in fact they have have had different histories.

Logically the dystopian future of timeline 1 should not change since wolverine doesnt go back into the past of timeline 1 instead he jumps into timeline 2 and then travels into the past of that reality, in which sentinels are already being developed in the 70's. Having then defeated whoever the villian is in timeline 2, Apocalypse arrives on the scene as some people are suggesting during the 80's. But people in the dystopian future of timeline 1 should still be fighting a losing battle.

Wouldn't DoFP cause a paradox?
