Even More From Jennifer "Mystique" Lawrence On X-Men: First Class!

The actress has spoken to SuperHeroHype about what we can expect from the upcoming prequel and the "insecure teenage girl" version of Mystique that she plays...

On How She Prepared For The Role Of Mystique:

"I didn't really learn much about it until a few auditions in, and then I started doing that research right before I did the movie."

On What We Should Expect To See In The Movie:

"Honestly, I like anything, any character, any movie that has a beginning, a middle and an end, anything that goes through an arc and then there's a change and then you end somewhere you weren't in the beginning. That's just what this movie is. It's a prequel, and all of the characters and their relationships - they go through so much from the beginning. They change and there's so much that happens in their lives. I just really thought that script was so good."

On The X-Men: First Class Version Of The Character:

"Gosh. I don't know what I'm allowed to say! This is before she became the Mystique that we know her as, the mutant-and-proud, the tough girl. This is when she's an insecure teenage girl - insecure about her hidden secret thing, a mutant, of being blue."

If you're looking forward to seeing the "insecure teenage girl" version of Mystique, be sure to check it out when X-Men: First Class is released on June 3, 2011!

i'm looking forward to this movie, and i don't giva' flying frack what none of the "fans" on this site say, the first two x-men were very good films, the third was'nt quite as good but it still doesn't deserve the crap it gets sometimes.

I was hoping she'd be older in the movie. It's going to be weird that she's a teen and Magneto will be her teacher, knowing what kind of relationship they'll have in the future.

"...This is when she's an insecure teenage girl - insecure about her hidden secret thing, a mutant, of being blue."

That does kinda play into the first movie, where she told Kelly people like him were the reason she was afraid to go to school as a child.

Just what I want to see. A bunch of insecure teenie mutants trying to find themselves.

Give me mature mutants kicking ass, or I am not interested.

...and people wonder why some of us are dismissing this without seeing anything. The route they are going doesn't interest me in the least bit and this just confirms it all the more.

Can we pounce on Fox to get the rights back to Marvel, and we can have an X-Men 4? I mean, why are they doing all these sequels, let alone have Emma Frost in the 60's? In "X-Men Origins: Wolverine", the actress playing Emma was 24. Now they got January Jones, 32, playing her. And wasn't "Wolverine" set in the 70s somewhat?

Fox is blowing my mind up!

@Ibz: That's what I've been saying. That's the only real bad thing about the movie is that people were just expecting a different movie. I'm sure it was First Class in the beginning, but the script has gone through SO many changes and the title just stuck for some reason. I prefer the title X-Men Beginnings, First Class could be a neat sequel.
