Heres the info:
While chatting with Lauren Shuler Donner yesterday at a promotional event for the Blu-Ray release of "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" -- the producer of all movie-things X-Men related --we did our best to get as much mutant info as possible out of her. And we did pry a few interesting items out of her -- including a bit on "X-Men: First Class." (Click here to hear what she had to say about Deadpool.)
"I think there are some wonderful storylines I'd like to pursue in "X-Men 4" and 5, but who knows?" she told us. "Obviously Fox is my partner, so we're in discussions about what will be next."
Do said fourth and fifth X-Men films include "X-Men: First Class," the movie we've been hearing about for some time now which is being written by "Gossip Girl" and "Chuck" producer Josh Schwartz? Or is "First Class" a separate project entirely? That's not clear. And neither is whether the film will go back to the tale of the early days of the original five X-Men -- Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Angel, Beast, and Iceman -- or pick up the saga with a group of new, young mutants.
"I can't talk about it yet, but yes, they're all good ideas," the producer told us at first. But when we pushed the topic, she gave in a bit and at least admitted that the film takes place in the past…
"I know, I know, I know," she said. "It is the X-Men's first class, and it's way back when… but I can't tell you which characters."
Well, might we see characters like Storm or Iceman get their own spin-off films or guest appearances in future movies?
"Not… well, possibly," she laughs. "I'm sorry to be evasive!"
O.K. then. Does that clear things up for you?
Ozy out.
