Here is an excerpt from the article about the latest crew members brought on board to the latest "X-Men" film:

"THERE have been some further updates on crew hired for Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class prequel, as well as casting rumours.

Russell De Rozario is on board as production designer; he worked with Vaughn on Kick-Ass and with Guy Ritchie on the Madonna-starring Swept Away.

John King has been hired as supervising art director. He also worked on Kick-Ass, as well as on Robin Hood, Bablyon AD, Kingdom of Heaven and the first two Harry Potter movies.

The cinematographer will be Ben Davis, who worked on Vaughn's Kick-Ass, Stardust and Layer Cake, while the costume designer is Sammy Sheldon (Kick-Ass, Green Zone, Stardust, Hellboy 2, V for Vendetta, Black Hawk Down)."

i hope this is a reboot for the franchise and more faithfull to the comics, although it probably will not be as long as wolverine 2 is going to be released, which continues with the established continuity from the existing quadrilogy. the x-men movies so far have been great but i want more faithfullness. screw singer and his realism... i like realism but on characters who can support it like iron man, punisher and batman.

@Denn1s...the words FAITHFUL and 20th Century Fox never go well together, they are as faithful as Tiger Woods and Jesse James at a whorehouse. I have faith ONLY IN Vaughn who will bring some edge to this series and make this film series more awesome in terms of action scenes and character development. If Gambit is in this will it be a new version of Gambit or still Kitsch, who's busy with John Carter of Mars.

question:
if they are going for a younger Gambit as the article suggests, then wouldn't First Class take place BEFORE Wolverine?
and if so that means that we will not be seeing an appearance by Cyclops or Emma Frost who were recruited at the end of Wolverine.

wadey09 i was thinking that in wolverine theres nothing to say that the professer and cyclops havent already met, i dont know, its been a while since ive seen wolverine, so i could have that wrong, i mean at the end scott seem surprised to him, but i dont think it was set to say otherwise,

im starting to get well excited bout this film now.

this has definetly got to be more like the comics.
otherwise it won't be taken serious after the shit x-men 3.

i hav a feeling this movie will move along in diff time peices...as in it will start as prof and magneto younger and sh!t and the 2nd half of the movie will be an older xavior teaching cyclops and such...so possible 1st half of movie..pre-wolverine origins...2nd half...after wolverine origins :)...that is the only way i see tis working!

i am getting really psyched for this movie. For god sake's its Matthew Vaughn! He made one of the best gangster movies of all time. And now that he has a CBM under his belt (thought kick-ass was amazing) i think he can handle x-men pretty well. He also has a great eye for choreography so the fight's will be epic!

lee777 i agree, no gambit, it would be senseless to have him in this film.

altho i did like him in wolverine.

i think have him in x 4 and maybe a rouge,gambit movie.

i was thinking if they ever used mojo as a villian,(which im sure they wont)

they should get paul heyman to voice him.

Sigh. Why not just call this thing X-Men 4 and be honest about what they're doing here? Gambit is not part of the first class. Neither is Wolverine. He shouldn't appear anywhere in this film. A true "First Class" film would focus on the ORIGINAL X-Men: Beast, Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Iceman, and Angel.

I'm waiting to hear that Deadpool is being added to this film because he's popular right now, history be damned.

I for one would luv 2 see a more accurate gambit on the big screen...who better 2 fulfill that dream but mathew vaughn!!!!...with what he brought 2 kickass as far as following the source material...im hoping this 2 be the best x-men movie yet!

Gambit even being mentioned in the first class timeline makes no sense! He didn't come around until much much later in the future. You'd have to introduce Rogue, and Nightcrawler b4 Gambit, and i'm a big Gambit fan saying this. The more news bits I hear about this movie, the less enthused I am about it being good.

BTW: who is this alternate rolanddeschain roaming around here?! we may have to duel at dawn, there can only be one!!!! (highlander pun intended)

Im with LEEE777 NO GAMBIT.In case ppl wonder why it's very simple its X-men FIRST class get it?!Why in the world would you included gambit when he was never even thought of as a character or even at the mansion for that matter?There's no point.I have faith in Vaughn but it would totally unwise to put gambit in the movie knowing that he has nothing to do with the first 5 original x-men.Anyone else agree?

Either I'm misunderstanding or there always changing the story. I know they say it's first class meaning using the first students. But they hint on using the story when Xavier meets Magnus (magneto ppl). Confusing or too much shit on film.
But if its is First Class film a combination of X & M first meting and the original kids. Well this is what I'd like to see:

1) Like to see how Magnus fared off with the Nazis
2) Xavier childhood with step-brother Cain Marko (not too mention the bald-headed kid is rich)
3) Takes place during the Korean War Xavier & Cain -Cain becomes Juggernaut
4) Xavier meets Storm in Cairo & Shadowking
5) Magnus meets Xavier as nurses in some part of the world and Xavier has accident looses ability to walk
6) Magnus helps Xavier built school and then they split
7) Gathers ruggrats
8) trains the first Class
9) Enter Magneto
10) they get schooled by Magneto
End

Cyclops was surprised to see Xavier and was even more surprised when he read his thoughts.
and that fact that Xavier introduced himself as if they ahd never met does impact how First Class will go.

wadey09 as i say its been a while since ive seen, havent seen it since it come out of the cinema, been saving it for a rainy day for some reason,

but im got the feeling, he introduces him self to the whole group, so it is possible , he has alreay met cyclops.

but im probbally wrong

im so looking foward to this film,

just the fact of having an x men film without wolverine stealing the spot light going to be great.

@ Rolanddeschain19 - that would be great but how they interpret it to film is another story will they go all they way or bust it up. Look at X3 so many good characters and villans but they still managed to make the Juggernaut look like a bitch.

rolanddeshcain19@ yeah, I guess 2 rolands can find the dark tower quicker than 1...lol, I am constantly looking 4 any news about the movie, last I heard was that JJ Abrams pulled out of it, said he was too afraid of F'N it up... :-( They should just give it to the guy who did Shawshank Redemption, and make it like the LOTR series..
Anyway, back on this subject, I wish I had your enthusiasm about this project, I just feel they're gonna go way off timeline with the characters. If I had to pick a villian within the timeline, i'd go with a young magneto -w- the young brotherhood, if they disregard the timeline, i'd hope for mr. sinister, or graydon creed & the friends of humanity, and i'd link genosha in there, too. Nothing on a global scale, like apocolypse, because they'd be just starting out, but a big enough threat to make the world really take notice that times are changing

I'm glad to find others here who would enjoy seeing an X-Men movie that did not have Wolverine front and center in every scene. He can be a great character when written (and drawn) right, but Wolvie is just way too overexposed.

For the villain, I'd love to see Juggernaut,and let's see him done right this time. He's quite enough of a threat to take an entire team of X-Men to defeat him (especially if we're going back to the early days of the team, when they aren't as familiar with how to defeat him). Besides that, you have the whole drama with him as Xavier's stepbrother, which can give us a needed break from Magneto. Again, Magneto is a fine villain, and one of my personal favorites, but he is also becoming overexposed. An early team shouldn't be fighting Sinister or Apocalypse, though I would LOVE to see them down the road somewhere. Maybe an animated Age of Apocalypse movie?
