X-Men: First Class To Film Action Scenes In Georgia, USA!

According to reports, the producers of X-Men: First Class are considering locations on Tybee Island, Thunderbolt and Savannah to film some "extensive action scenes"...

When asked about whether the movie will film in the area, Jay Self the city of Savannah's director of Tourism and Film Services, said: "We are moving forward with all needed preparations so we will be ready if they decide to use these locations." He then went on to reveal that a number of factors still have to be considered before anything can be made definite.

"Each location decision has creative implications. This is an action movie, so they're looking for places to do some rather extensive action sequences. These action sequences are very much tied to their environment. They're very specific, very complicated. It's also a period film, so the location decisions can be more complex."

He finished by saying that, "...if this film shoots anywhere on the Georgia coast, it will be a very positive thing for this region of the state."

Filming for the movie has already begun in London and before now, reports seemed to indicate that the majority of filming would take place in the UK although several sites have reported that the movie will have an "international" feel to it. What do you think they're going to film at this location? Share your thoughs in the usual place!

Sigh...regardless of them filming action scenes, I bet this will be yet another X-Men movie where we don't get to see the Sentinels. But with a team consisting of teenage versions of Havok, Beast and Mystique who the hell would want to see them wasted on another Fox flop with a "Meh" team like that!

iron2jason/Starsapphire: Good luck guys - be sure to keep us updated if you hear or see anything! :)

DCMF: Thanks mate - I noticed that I just beat you to it by a couple of minutes, lol! What kind of environment is it in this area? I tried to find some pictures on Google but they were all pretty vague!

@Josh I still have a few tabs open with a pic of the location I was gonna use. This seems to be a common spot.

DCMF: Thanks man! :) I'm sure that an episode of Supernatural was filmed there...or at least somewhere very similar. Either way, a place like that could make for some interesting scenes! It kills me to know that this will probably be a great film but I'll still hate it because it deviates so much from the comic books, lol!

Second. I've given up on any chance of continuity in this series, and am hoping that Vaughn will do a good job on this one.

Aki87- that will probably happen one day, but anyways this movie got great script writers and if Vaughan is on the film is cause the script is good. and yea i know thats why they will like this movie every single x-men movie has action in it so they will go to see this movie if they see action in the trailers.

I'm still not going to bother watching this garbage. I know it will do well because the general audience will want to see it no matter how poorly constructed the story is. It does not respect the comic material. It is something else new just like the previous X Men films. As a regular movie-goer and a fan of the X Men films-verse I would obviously be excited for this film. Most people who will watch this are those with no real generalization or understanding of these characters and the true origin story. I am certainly not one of those folks. I love comic books! X Men was one of my favs and as a comic fan I am deeply depressed that Hollywood and Bryan Singer has to be so vague and disrespectful to the characters. Why not ever balance out the film adaptations with the comics. Look at examples like Iron Man, Spider Man 1 and 2, Batman Begins and Dark Knight. Films like those compliment the comic material and please audiences who have no clue on the characters.

[frick] Bryan Stinker! [frick] 20th Century Fockers!

@Aki. Well, I am trying to become a comic writer, as well as a screen writer
flames809
flames809 - 9/9/2010, 8:34 PM
Samaritan- you cant call this movie a garbage until you see it, and how you know is poorly written have you seen the script? how you know it doesn't respect the source materials? and the company don't do the movie they just put there money in it the director and the screen writer decided what they want in the movie so you blaming fox and singer is restarted.

^Because they are idiots!!!! They just wanna fit in and say "[frick] Fox" cuz they wanna act cool, they dont understand that you have to atleast watch a [frick]ing movie first before talking shit.
RedDevil

@flames and CapAmer
Every info on this film indicates that they are not following the comics. The continuity of the series is [frick]ed and the original members are not even included in it. I did not specifically say it is going to SUCK! People who do not care for the source material and want to watch it for fun will love this film. People, like me who love comics will hate it. It is simple fact. Maybe even those who are avid fans of the comics will enjoy this film for what it is. I won't. How am I trying to fit in if I kept dissing Fox since F4 Rise of the Silver Surfer? I always hated them since then.

@Josh: Like patriautism said, Savannah is very much like New Orleans, but spotless. It is a place my wife and I head to at least once a year. It’s a truly beautiful place. I can't give it justice with words. The city is basically a series of grids leading to the Savannah River on the GA/SC boarder. Each Block is laid out fairly similar in the historic district, Beautiful two hundred and sixty year old brown stones, B&B's, and churches on the outer ring and a park in the center, each park and block is different and beautifully landscaped. On the River there is appropriately named River Street, think of it as Savannahs version of Bourbon Street .It’s about a mile and a half cobblestoned walk of bars, restaurants, and boutiques in buildings dating to the early 1700's. The people are very cool, very “old southern,” and very unique. Rather, rainy and windswept in the winter and blazingly hot in the summer. The Bonaventure Cemetery is renowned for the beautifully carved statues and monuments, and voodoo. Check it out:

Tybee Island is not far from Savannah on the extreme edge of GA's northern coast. It is mainly composed of a very small town, a light house, several beach homes of all shapes, sizes and eras, only a couple turn of the century resorts. Tybee has not allowed new construction on the island in decades. They like it how it is and they keep it that way, its basically a time capsule of sorts. No malls, no strip malls, and aside from a Ben & Jerry's, a Chik-fil-a, and an Arby's no fast food, everything is locally owned and old school. Beaches are hard compact grey Atlantic sand, and the waves will beat you near to death.

Being from Georgia myself, does anyone else wonder what kind of action scenes they COULD film in Savannah? The place is gorgeous, but it’s like a museum. Everything is perfect and just so in the historic districts, which make up a massive part of the city. I don't see FOX and Vaughn being allowed to really blow shit up around multimillion dollar colonial mansions and six hundred year old trees. Little patch of Spanish moss catches fire next thing you know Savannah looses six parks and three blocks of brown stones. The folks in Savannah will love the filming though.

Tybee would also be a hard place to film action for the same reasons. Those folks like their natural areas undisturbed and their peace and quiet uninterrupted. They will bitch and bitch loud about filming. I'd really be surprised if they allow XFC to film there at all.

i wouldnt consider the first two x-men films as action films really and they were the some of the best comix films out there. i think thats where films mess up alot of time they try and do too much action, and not enough of the drama, thriller type concept in these films. they need to go back to how they did the first two ,and kinda like dark knight, incredible hulk, and iron man.
