First Look At Logan Lerman And More On The Set Of Darren Aronofsky's NOAH

Four set photos from Darren Aronofsky's Biblical epic have found their way online, giving us our first look at Logan Lerman, Madison Davenport and Aronofsky on the set of Upper Brookville, NY. The movie's title treatment has also been revealed.

Via On Location Vacations, four set photos from Darren Aronofsky's anticipated Biblical epic Noah are now online. The movie, which stars Russell Crowe as the Ark building titular character, is currently filming in Upper Brookville, NY. A life sized ark has been under construction in the area for nearly two months. Aronofsky was spotted on set, as well as actors Logan Lerman (who plays Noah's son, Ham) and Madison Davenport (who plays Ham's wife, Na'el). The film's title treatment and a glimpse at some of the costumes have also been revealed on the set.

NOAH is a close adaptation of the Biblical story of Noah’s Ark. In a world ravaged by human sin, Noah is given a divine mission: to build an Ark to save creation from the coming flood. The screenplay was written by Aronofsky and Ari Handel and revised by Academy Award®-nominated screenwriter John Logan (GLADIATOR, HUGO).

Again... Its not straight bible movie. Its based on a graphic novel and its gonna have post apocalyptic setup.

I for one cant wait to see what kind of artistic take Aronofsky comes up with. Really liked The Fountain, Requiem for a Dream, The Wrestler and Black Swan.

Actually, how they dress is pretty open ended. My math teacher (Christian school) thinks that before the time of the flood, people were actually really advanced in technology and brainpower. The flood destroyed all that, save one family.

That is where my confusion lies. They are promoting it as a close adaptation of the biblical story. Is it a close adaptation of the biblical story or the graphic novel? I wouldn't consider the graphic novel a close adaptation of the the biblical story.

I imagine they are wanting to pander to the Christians to get them into the theater. That may end up backfiring on them, if it isn't a close adaptation to the biblical story.

I don't thnk this movie will be from a Christian perspective. Darren Aronofsky is Jewish, one of the screenwriters is Jewish, and Logan Lerman is Jewish, too.

^^^The Jews believe in Noah's Ark from a biblical perspective. It's pretty much the same story.

There's a lot of evidence of a pre flood civilization that dates back further than the stories of the bible. Egyptians, Greeks, Sumerians, South Americans, Ancient Chinese and Indian mythology all talk about an older civilization and a giant flood. Not only that but they believe many of those ancient sites were built upon much much older sites.

Puma Punku in Peru is believed to be at least 12,000 years old.

There was no Christianity when this took place so I don't see why people are concerned that it will be from a "Christian persepctive". However, Christians believe that the Old Testament is the inspired word of God.

Christianity grew out of judaism, or so they say, who's to say what really happened with anything. This could all be there "superhero" stories:)

@jesspostal why the "or so they say" bit? The first christians were disciples of a man who was jewish. Seems there isnt a question whether not it grew from judaism.

Judaism was the first abrahimic relgion, after that Christianity was derived out of Judaism and then later Islam was derived out of Christianity. There all connected and have the same core beliefs but where Jesus came from is what separates them.

@ha1frican, the "or so they say" was ment as a how would we really know, what if there was something before or during judiasm that wasn't taught in a book of hand me down stories? Not everything was documented than like it is today.You have to think of things like that because honestly it's true. We don't and will never know a lot of things,Its mostly he said she said

@Spidey31, Islam was not "derived" from Christianity. Actually Islam traces it's roots back to Abraham. Specifically his first child Ishmael and view him as a patriarch. However, Islam has Five pillars, one God, and his prophet Muhammad. The three religions share a common ancestry, but are very different.

@jessepostal, you're absolutely right, the bible stories are their superhero stories. They tell the tale of celestial happenings between the constellations and the sun, moon and earth. The story of Thor has the exact same stuff as the bible. People are to blind and ignorant and easily led to see. If a blind man lead a blind man won't they both fall into a pit. You hit the nail on the head though my friend.

aronofsky worked on a graphic novel which told a fictionalized account of the noah tale. this film will be an adaptation of that, NOT a 'close adaptation of the bible story' itself. it's never been said that would be the case, so im not sure why that idea keeps popping up.

whatever the final result, we are in for a helluva show.

I am Jewish and we even have a day of celebration for Noah's ark after the flooding ceased during the days of Sivian..
Every story that is in the old testament is in and Torah celebrated by Jews even more that were left out because it didn't fit the catholic idea of what should be in the Bible.

So a Jewish person telling a story about Noah is likely to be more accurate than a Christian telling the story.
