Hugh Jackman Appears On WWE Raw In Humorous Segment To Promote Real Steel!

Despite it only being loosely connected to the comic book movie genre, we've covered a fair bit of Real Steel news here on CBM, and while I would never usually post something WWE related, I thought you guys might like to check out this entertaining segment from this weeks installment of "Raw" featuring the actor best known to many for his role in the X-Men movies as Wolverine. Here he is facing off against Dolph Ziggler, who clearly has him mistaken for another superhero altogether...let's just pretend the majority of this isn't scripted, eh?

STARRING:

Hugh Jackman as Charlie Kenton
Dakota Goyo as Max Kenton
Evangeline Lilly as Bailey Tallet
Kevin Durand as Ricky
Anthony Mackie as Finn
Phil LaMarr as ESPN Boxing Commentator
Karl Yune as Tak Mashido

RELEASE DATE: October 7th, 2011.

Actually the WWE is better now than it has been in many years, But that's all a matter of what you're into of course.

Jackman didn't really gel on Raw. It's so funny, when a hollywood actor comes to wrestling they always seem like really bad actors compared to the wrestlers on the show

Connorblaze, isn't that what you see every time you go see an action movie? Only difference is these guys are actually athletes.

Trying to debate with someone who's argument against wrestling is that it's "fake" is like trying to win an argument against a guy who hates movies because his local theater serves shitty popcorn.

Jackman rules, I thought he was great on RAW. Most celebrities that show up try to be too funny and get booed out of the building.

But that robot boxing movie looks like the dumbest thing ever.

To all the people who keep saying wrestling is fake: how old are you, first of all? If you've graduated high school and you're still making this argument, woah. Just... woah.

These men and women are athletes. Most of you sedentary people can't even run up a flight of stairs without comically running out of breath, let alone step in the ring and perform every night like these people do. Wrestling is not fake. It is scripted. If I have to explain the difference to you, therein lies the problem.

Let me make it clear, so that even a child can understand. Wrestling has storylines. It is a live stage play with athletic performances. Just like Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark, the Broadway show, these are real people doing real stunts leading to a set outcome. We do this with movies, the circus, music videos, etc. With real stunts and real people come real injuries and real talent. Is everyone following, or am I using too many big words?

Wrestlers do not punch each other, because it is not boxing. Wrestlers do not actually kick each other in the face at full force, because it is not Ultimate Fighting. Believe it or not, some of us humans don't enjoy ACTUAL injuries being sustained by the people we like or like to hate. When someone in wrestling is set on fire, we can take pleasure in this, because we know the person will be okay. That’s entertainment. I don’t watch boxing, because it’s a level of brutality and horror that I don’t like; likewise with ultimate fighting. I can’t take pleasure in watching that level of suffering. That requires a certain mindset that I simply don’t possess. This is why when a wrestler gets close lined from hell, it’s a little difficult to watch, because I KNOW that hurts.

If you don't like wrestling; that's fine. But don't go around claiming that the reason you don't like it, is because it's fake, because all that does is call attention to your ignorance and desperate cries for attention.

Yeah, Jackman looks totally embarassed to be there...considering he's a fan and has been since the 80s. He looks especially embarassed to be on one of the highest rated shows with the target demographic for his new movie no doubt watching. Honestly, I feel sorry for the guy having to go on one of the most watched shows in the world, getting to meet all the wrestlers, promoting his movie and having a good time.

And for all those saying it's fake...well then, better throw away all your movies and comics, and books, and tv box sets, and pretty much anything else scripted ever. It's a stage show you f***ing morons, so turn your computer off and go back to your crayons or smearing mashed potato on the walls.

@Luminus
Well said! You couldn't have put it any better! I like how ignorant people can be about wrestling. People say they learn how to fall, and make it look real. How do you learn how to fall? Pain is still involved in the equation!

I find wrestling more entertaining then most real sports out there. I do believe Hugh Jackman said that it was a life long dream to even be in a WWE ring. And I thought he did a great job on Raw. He showed that he wasn't above the talent, and that he really wanted to be there. Great punch on Ziggler!

@Luminus absolutely agree.

people are hating on wrestling beacuse it's fake? Really? really.... really? really? really? well i guess they can tell mick foley's ripped ear, edge's neck injury or shawn michael's back injjury wich retired him for 2 years that it's OK, wrestling's fake so they never happened
