Following the Rome premiere, the first reactions for Christopher McQuarrie's highly-anticipated Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One have arrived online and, they're overwhelmingly positive as critics heap immense praise on Tom Cruise's latest action blockbuster.

While Cruise receives top marks for once again delivering the best movie of the year, there's plenty of love to go around for the director and entire cast, especially former Marvel star and franchise newcomer Hayley Atwell (Captain America: The First Avenger; Avengers: Endgame), who ends up stealing the show in her debut as the mysterious Grace.

The action is described as next level incredible, which should come as a surprise to no one, and the third act seems to be the biggest highlight, leaving many on the absolute edge of their seats.

It's also been confirmed that Part One doesn't end on any sort of huge cliffhanger, so it is a complete film that can stand on its own, but it sure sounds like once the credits roll, fans across the world will be jonesing for Part Two!

Check out some of the early reactions below:

In addition to Cruise as the headliner, the highly anticipated McQ-directed action blockbuster will also see the return of Ving Rhames as Luther Stickell, Simon Pegg as Benji Dunn, Rebecca Ferguson as Ilsa Faust, Academy Award-nominee Vanessa Kirby as the White Widow, Frederick Schmidt as Zola, and Henry Czerny as Eugene Kittridge.

Newcomers to the franchise include Hayley Atwell (Avengers: EndgameCaptain America: The First Avenger) as Grace, Shea Whigham (Perry Mason; Marvel's Agent Carter), Pom Klementieff (Avengers: Endgame; Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2), Esai Morales (TitansLa Bamba), Rob Delaney (Deadpool 2Hobbs & Shaw), Cary Elwes (The Princess BrideSaw), Indira Varma (Game of ThronesCarnival Row), Mark Gatiss (The FatherThe Favourite), Charles Parnell (Top Gun: MaverickTransformers: Age of Extinction), Greg Tarzan Davis (Top Gun: MaverickGrey's Anatomy), Mariela Garriga (NCIS; NCIS: Los Angeles), Marcin Dorociński (The Queen's GambitVikings: Valhalla), Lampros Kalfuntzos (No Time to Die; Ted Lasso), and Hannah Waddingham (Ted Lasso; Game of Thrones).

Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One lights the fuse in theaters on July 12, 2023; with the rumored franchise finale, Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part Two, set to arrive the following year on June 28, 2024.

Waiting for Ezra Miller impresions.

Jokes aside, at this point we have to go by trailer and previous works, these "early reactions" have become a joke.

Can't wait for Josh to be super offended by this and releasing a million articles being like "is the new mission impossible REALLY the best film of the year?"

Now this first reactions are the ones I believe, unlike every "best CBM since TDK/Infinity War" we've seen so far.

@jarcastanon - I'm just numb to it in general. It's just them saying "it's a good movie".

Why is that far fetched?

We are half way through the year and is it really hard to believe cruised delivered best film of the year or one of the best of the year?

Top gun Maverick says hi🙋🖖🔥💯💪

@AmazingFILMporg -

The last 3 MI have all been great, each topping the best.

This is my 100% most anticipated movie of the year.

And Top Gun Maverick was the most fun I've had in a theater since I took slutty Donna to a drive-in in 1973.

"We are half way through the year"

You answered your own question and they said that the Flash was one of the greatest comic book films EVER! Do the math!

No surprise that its the best movie of the year, that's just a known fact, just as Dead Reckoning Part 2 will be the best movie of next year. Topping Fallout is no easy feat, but if there is one duo to do that, its McQ and Cruise.

@HeavyMetal4Life - I'd say Fallout is probably the better film overall, but I think I liked this one more. There's more heart and the stakes are unreal, and man, Tom Cruise & Hayley Atwell are just so fun together. Plus, that third act is killer.

Both films are top tier though, need to rewatch Fallout before I see DR again

Off topic: Oliver Stone, of all people, says John Wick is too violent and Marvel movies aren't realistic.

@CoHost - He made a lot of shitty movies imo.
Platoon is one of the few of his I mostly enjoyed, but other than that, he's really hit and miss.

Just him talking about a movie being "too violent" is kinda absurd when you look at his track record.
