Movie Adaptation Of 24 Looking More And More Unlikely!

Movie Adaptation Of 24 Looking More And More Unlikely!

It's been confirmed that the movie is "in suspended animation", but director Tony Scott might just be the man to save it! However, what will that mean for the adaptation of Mark Millar's Nemesis?

Last year, the eighth and final season of 24 finished on something of a cliffhanger (don't worry if you've not seen it, no spoilers here!) in anticipation of a movie adaptation that would give Jack Bauer a new home on the big screen.

Screenwriter Billy Ray, who counts State of Play among his credits, was hired to produce a storyline for the film, but 20th Century Fox has turned his script down, leaving the chances of a movie wrapping up the characters story extremely unlikely. Here's what Howard Gordon, the longtime executive producer of 24 who is also expected to produce the big screen version, told EW exclusively earlier today.

"As far as I know, it is in suspended animation. There is talk about re-approaching it. I understand (director/producer) Tony Scott is meeting with Kiefer to talk about ideas. People are still talking about it."

"I was disapppointed Fox passed on the script but I’m certainly hopeful that the movie will get made at some point. Anecdotally, I’ve heard from people who are really missing the show and I do think there is more life in Jack Bauer."

Well, I think it's fair to say that this is yet another reason to hate Fox. (as if the awful comic book movies they're responsible for weren't enough!) While Tony Scott seems like the perfect director to take charge of this movie, what will that mean for Nemesis, the Mark Millar penned comic book that is said to be his next project? The longer 24 has been off the small screen, the less interested people will be in a movie, so if Fox do decide to get on with it, which project would you rather see him in charge of? Be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place!
