After years and years of waiting fans are getting their wish,
The Dark Knight Returns is being made in to an animated movie. Part One of the two part movie is set to hit stores this month on the 25th, with Part Two expected sometime in early 2013. News has been pretty quiet on the second movie, until now.
TvGuide has released the first still from the animated film that showcases The Joker, who will be voiced by Michael Emerson. Emerson is excited to get the chance to play The Clown Prince of Crime saying,
"He's one of those great villains that an actor like me likes to play because he has layers — he has a face for the world and a face for himself. He is, in a way, a villain who is a natural actor. All of that is that is delightful and confounding at the same time." He went on to say that the role of The Joker is freeing because of the largeness of it. That he doesn't do anything part way, everything is cranked up to 11.
Those familiar with
The Dark Knight Returns story also knows that Superman plays a part towards the end. Actor Mark Valley has been cast as the Man Of Steel, and joins Emerson as The Joker as well as Peter Weller returning as Batman.
The Dark Knight Returns Part Two is scheduled to be released sometime in early 2013.
