Despite a somewhat lukewarm reaction to the various trailers, early buzz on James Cameron, Jon Landau and Robert Rodriguez‘s upcoming live-action Alita: Battle Angel adaptation has been very positive.

Full reviews are still embargoed for the February 6 release, but we do have a series of character banners which give us new looks at the various heroes and villains played by the likes of Rosa Salazar, Christoph Waltz, Jennifer Connelly, and Mahershala Ali.

For those unfamiliar with the story, Battle Angel focuses on an amnesiac cyborg (Rosa Salazar) who is found in the scrapyard of Iron City by Ido (Christoph Waltz), a compassionate cyber-doctor who takes the unconscious Alita to his clinic. When she awakens she has no memory of who she is, nor does she have any recognition of the world she finds herself in.

Check out the posters below, and let us know if you're looking forward to Alita: Battle Angel in the comments.

Rosa Salazar as Alita

Christoph Waltz as Dr. Dyson Ido

Jennifer Connelly as Chiren

Mahershala Ali as Vector

Ed Skrein as Zapan

Jackie Earle Haley as Grewishka

Keean Johnson as Hugo

Eiza González as Nyssiana #1

Eiza González as Nyssiana #2

Elle LaMont as Screwhead

@QUITEMASSIVE - I haven’t seen the original anime—how is it?

I might just have to give this a chance. Speaking of Mahershala Ali he's great in True Detective season 3. The third season is definitely a return to form of season 1, though I still think season 2 was underrated and suffered from the success of season 1.

@Mysterion - If she'd just put back those 20-30 lbs she dropped a decade ago, she'd be back to perfect.

It looks like they reduced Alita's eyesize slightly. It's still a little creepy, but not nearly as unnerving as the first few images they showed.

They dont advertise it enough. I forgot it didnt have posters. It seems the movie is low priority.

Whoever doubts James Cameron is a moron, he's like King Midas. Then again Lego Movie 2 comes out pretty close to Alita, damn it!

@bobevanz - To be fair the man did say Terminator Genysis was a return to form for the franchise.
