Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania is a major departure for the typically grounded franchise, taking its title heroes into the Quantum Realm for a battle against Thanos-level threat Kang the Conqueror.
In theory, an Ant-Man movie with stakes this high should have been great. Instead, it's been mauled by critics and even received a disappointing "B" CinemaScore from moviegoers. As a result, the threequel is now tied with Eternals as the lowest-rated MCU movie with critics and fans.
It's hard to pinpoint exactly what went wrong, but the VFX-heavy blockbuster definitely lacked the charm of its predecessors. The Multiverse, meanwhile, remains poorly defined and very confusing. Looking to the future, there's a place for Ant-Man in the MCU, but we'd like to think a different filmmaker will be at the helm of a possible fourth movie.
Phase 4 was nothing if not hit-and-miss, but Marvel Studios appears to have taken note, delaying The Marvels and pushing at least a couple of this year's Disney+ TV shows into 2024 (if recent rumours are to be believed, anyway).
In our review, we concluded by saying: "Despite being an example of why a movie shouldn’t be shot almost entirely in The Volume, every time Jonathan Majors steps on screen as Kang, Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania is an epic tale to astonish and a monumental chapter in the Multiverse Saga."
That's what we said, but now it's time for you, ComicBookMovie.com's readers, to weigh in.
In the poll below, you can cast your vote and choose the score you feel Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania most deserves. By the time all is said and done, we'll hopefully have a better idea of how you all feel about a movie that's been nothing if not divisive.
