Rumor Has It There Are Still A Lot Of Kang Variants We Haven't Met In The MCU

We're sure this won't surprise you, but a new rumour suggests the Marvel Cinematic Universe has barely scratched the surface when it comes to Kang the Conqueror, with more Variants said to be on the way!

By JoshWilding - Jan 01, 2023 08:01 AM EST

We first met Kang the Conqueror in Loki's season finale when He Who Remains was outed as the mastermind behind the TVA and Sacred Timeline.

The episode ended with the God of Mischief stranded in a timeline where a Kang Variant was openly in charge of the TVA, and it remains unclear whether that's the same villain we'll see take centre stage in next month's Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania! Heck, we don't even know if he will be Avengers: The Kang Dynasty's big bad!

Following reports that Avengers: Secret Wars' lead villain is another Kang Variant - read more about that here - reliable insider @MyTimeToShineH has teased fans by promising that "there's more" to come.

Marvel Studios missed a trick by not including Rama Tut in Moon Knight, but Scarlet Centurion, Victor Timely, Nathaniel Richards, Iron Land, and even Doom The Annihilating Conqueror are all Variants we can imagine showing up sooner rather than later.

Despite that, Majors is currently only confirmed for the movie mentioned above, though we have a feeling more than a few surprise cameos and appearances are being planned.

During a recent interview with Nerdbunker, the actor shared his hopes for the time-travelling baddie. "I think with Kang, my objective with every role I play is to make them as universal and as human as possible. I think we'd be lucky, you know, for these next phases to have a big bad that also allows the audiences to oscillate between cheering and booing."

"What Josh Brolin did so beautifully with Thanos was that he tried to make him as three-dimensional as possible to make it very clear and he really believed in it. Which is why I think it was so morally ambiguous as to how bad he is. And I also think that the word villain, and the more anti-hero-hero you are, the deeper your constitution has to be."

We're definitely intrigued and excited to see what the future holds in store for Kang in the MCU, and we'll get to see what he's capable of for the first time on February 17 in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania!

@PlusUltra - think it would work better if Rama-Tut is just main Kang after he's defeated and forcefully retired/banished to the past.

@bkmeijer1 - That could be a nice ending for him if he's willing to accept he was defeated.

@bkmeijer1 - I think that Rama-Tut would make for a cool big-bad for a Moon Knight follow-up D+ show or Special Presentation. Even if they can't find a way to include it in this current (admittedly packed) "Multiverse Saga", there is nothing that says that Kang and all his variants are going to be destroyed as a result of "A:KD" or "A:SW", so the Rama-Tut variant could very well still remain and would be a formidable opponent for MK in whatever his future media is.

MyTimeToShineHello is on a roll. Despite being fairly reliable, with this number of scoops I am starting to think there are bound to be a few wrong ones.

Anyway, I hope we atleast get to see variants from the comics, although it's not a must. Different characters like He Who Remains or Beyonder being Kang variants work just as well. I'd even be open to Doom being a Kang variant.
Vigor
Vigor - 1/1/2023, 10:11 AM
@bkmeijer1 - I'm not as obsessed as others about Doom, so I'd be ok with him being a Kang variant. But I feel like that would lead to a coup with the fans!

bkmeijer1 - 1/1/2023, 10:19 AM
@Vigor - oh yeah, a lot of people will start flipping tables.

Still, I think it would be a ballsy move. Although I think they can get away with it, especially if it's a variant from a different universe and the real Doom is possible still lurking around the MCU (just like Norman Osborn is).

@Fogs - yeah that is true. Both Avengers are years off, so a lot can still change indeed

I imagine Rama Tut will make an appearance in Fantastic Four to tie them to this saga. Maybe they get stuck in past at the end? Maybe they’ve been they’re all along? They did encounter him very early on in their career, so it makes sense.

I want to see and a great way to introduce Maestro especially with a World War Hulk movie coming soon :)

@DoubleD - I really doubt we'll get a World War Hulk soon, but I don't rule out a Maestro appearance. Could definitely see him be a lieutenant in Kang's army

@bkmeijer1 - Marvel Studios' Captain America: New World Order, in theaters May 3, 2024. I see a version of a World War Hulk movie in 2026 or 2027.
bkmeijer1
bkmeijer1 - 1/1/2023, 10:40 AM
@DoubleD - think I already said it before, but I kinda expect New World Order to be World War Hulk in disguise like with Ragnarok and Planet Hulk.

A stand-alone World War Hulk movie would be much better though, but I guess that would be 2027 the earliest.
DoubleD
DoubleD - 1/1/2023, 10:49 AM
@bkmeijer1 - They're NOT going to turn Captain America into a version of World War Hulk movie. Just not going to happen, one it's still a Captain America movie and why too much Jam a Hulk movie.

I see two Hulk movies spinning off from New World Order.

@bkmeijer1 - Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige reveals they currently have the MCU planned out five to six years in advance, taking Marvel to 2026/2027.

@DoubleD - Hugh Jackman’s Logan variant versus Maestro needs to happen!
bkmeijer1
bkmeijer1 - 1/1/2023, 11:33 AM
@DoubleD - I thought the same thing with them not turning a Thor movie into a version of a popular Hulk story either, yet here we are.

Anyway, what's the second spin-off? World War Hulks (which I think would actually fit New World Order)?
DoubleD
DoubleD - 1/1/2023, 11:37 AM
@Jackraow21 - That would be Bad Ass :)

DoubleD
DoubleD - 1/1/2023, 11:54 AM
@bkmeijer1 - Big difference is Thor: Ragnarok was sold and advertised as a Thor and Hulk team up movie.

Captain America: New World Order hasn't even mentioned the Hulk will be in it yet. The Fact the Leader is the main bad and Red Hulk is in it people are expecting the Hulk to show up.
bkmeijer1
bkmeijer1 - 1/1/2023, 12:05 PM
@DoubleD - yeah, that's definitely the reason why I am expecting it (think it was even rumoured She-Hulk is gonna be in it).

Kinda surprised we haven't gotten a lot about NWO yet at all now that I think about. No leaks or anything official
DoubleD
DoubleD - 1/1/2023, 12:07 PM
@bkmeijer1 - Thor: Ragnarok based on trailers and advertising it was selling itself as a Planet Hulk spinoff. Marvel Studios didn't even try to hide it.

@DoubleD - guess we have to wait and see. Hopefully we'll atleast get some concept art or something like that soon for NWO

Of course there are more. They've only shown one Kang in the MCU.

@Origame - I do wonder what the original timeline of the MCU looked like, or that we haven't reached the diverging point yet.

The more majors the better. I didn't know Kamg was confirmed for loki season 2, or didn't remember, but it makes sense considering how it ended

Im already sick of the term variant…

I really hope marvel doesn’t play the “this is actual the strongest variant” card with each individual variant popping up…
