Could ANT-MAN Be Shooting Sooner Than Reported?

We know that Edgar EWright is officially on board the project, and it seems we may also be getting a look at that Comic-Con footage before too long, but could the first cinematic outing for Ant-Man be with us sooner than we thought?

When Will The Ant-Man Begin Production?

Marvel's Phase 2 is well on its way to becoming the biggest thing since…well…Marvel’s Phase 1. With sequels to Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, and the Avengers, it's easy to forget that Edgar Wright's Ant-Man is still waiting patiently to get made.

However, now we have learned that the sequel to Captain America is filming later than expected. Chris Evans had been making his interview rounds at the Toronto International Film Festival this past weekend and reported that production for Captain America: The Winter Soldier is now set to begin in March of next year instead of the end of this year.

This leaves a convenient little gap in Marvel's shooting schedule between Thor: The Dark World and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. It's possible that Ant-Man could fill that gap.

As Screen Rant points out, director Edgar Wright recently stated that he could begin shooting the film in London directly after Thor 2 wraps production. Additionally, Marvel heads Louis D'Esposito and Kevin Feige have hinted that Ant-Man may hit theaters as soon as 2014, which means the studio could be lined up for three major releases in one year.

If Ant-Man nabs this production slot, fans can expect to see casting announcements in the very near future.

As it stands now, Iron Man 3 is scheduled to hit theaters on May 3, 2013; Thor: The Dark World on November 3, 2013; Captain America: The Winter Soldier on April 14, 2014; Guardians of the Galaxy on August 1, 2014; and The Avengers 2 on May 1, 2015.

Big special effects movies like Thor can take up to 6 months to film, so I don't see this gap you're talking about. However it's not like Marvel uses the same production crew for every movie. But isn't Edgar Wright's next movie, The World's End, starting filming in October? I mean it's not impossible but usually director's don't move on to another project until their current project is released. But I would love it if you were right.

A December 2014 release sounds better to me. But I wonder if this'll be some type of short film they'll place in front of Guardians Of The Galaxy?

I do hope so i really want to see ant man in avengers 2, and i think this will be released in 2014. I cant see why they would of had edgar wright at comic con with test footage along with the announcements of phase 2 titles if they werent planning to release it before avengers sequel

Can't wait for Ant-Man!!! As it is, anyone who doesn't see the importance of Hebert Pym in the MCU just either doesn't understand or doesn't care for the lore of the Avengers whatsoever.

shitty character who doesn't need a film...Id rather see a Wonder Women film then this, and I don't see a reason to make a film for her either.

Someone explain the push for this movie. He's not interesting in the least--especially without the Wasp. Maybe, honey, he will find the shrunk kids.

Lots of people hating on Ant-Man....I guarantee with Edgar Wright directing, and with a script by him and Joe Cornish that this movie will be one of the best comic book movies of it's year, if not the best. Like no doubt in my mind at all. I just hope either Simon Baker, or Patrick Wilson get the part. Ant-Man is an Avenger. He deserves his movie. And I'm pretty sure Wasp will be in it as well. I mean she's his love interest and they kinda go together. Like imo they need to be together, can't see just one of them by themselves.
